This Is Your First Vita TV Ad

Sony's "Never Stop Playing" PlayStation Vita ads are starting to roll out.

The ad campaign, which according to reports will cost as much as $50 million, is the largest in PlayStation's history.

Sony's SVP of brand marketing Guy Longworth says, "You will find the television commercials featured during primetime programming on some of your favorite networks including Fox, Comedy Central and ESPN. Residents of New York, LA, Chicago, Philadelphia and San Francisco will notice PS Vita on buildings and billboards. You’ll find it on your favorite websites and on your favorite radio stations."

Below you'll find both the North American and European TV spots. Which do you like better?

North America

Europe

  • "Your spot on the leaderboard is always up for grabs..." Isn't your spot on the leaderboard always up for grabs, even on consoles? Seems like a dumb selling point.

These commercials are weak. They should have focused on the hardware features of their new handheld. Not that everyone should copy Apple's marketing, but the iPhone ads are effective because they show what the iPhone can do. Show off the analog sticks, show off the touch screen, show off the touch panel on the back... show what makes this thing different from the PSP, besides better graphics (which they didn't really emphasize either.)

Stop trying to sell an idea & just show off your sexy new hardware, Sony. "Gaming anywhere" isn't a new selling point, even if your online focus is greater with this new product.
  • I like North America's, Europe's is WAY too long.
  • Europe's commercial is a bit longer, but they definitely put way more time and effort into making it a good commercial. North America's is just two walking down the street playing the Vita. Anyone can make a commercial like that. Europe's really stands out

  • thats funny cause im totally writing a persuasive speech over the vita and this helps
  • Europe's ad is more cinematic and intriguing. However, it's ambiguous as to what it's advertising.
NA's is direct and makes me want to play.
Maybe I have an American bias.

I think this ad, which is not for the PS VIta but the game Gravity Daze for the Vita, is amazing.

  • I really like the European version of the Vita spot...the North American version seems dumbed down. :(

  • Europe's one is better.
  • The European commercial is much better. It's more creative and personal.

  • i dont see a difference. im neutral guys i dont want any trouble!

  • Bring out Kevin Butler....
  • Both of them are pretty bad, they make handheld gaming look dumb.
  • Definitely dig the European more. The American one is boring.

  • Unit-13 should be a fun game, but I agree the leaderboard comment is very stupid.

  • I like the "Bad Intentions" one better. But wheres KB?

  • Uh...they both kinda suck in my opinion.
  • Europe's is, unfortunately, way better.
  • $50 million dollars and that's what they came up with?? They waited this long to come out with a commercial... That's it?! I saw better advertising through Taco Bell.. Da fk is goin on over there Sony?

^You know Sony, there was this huge prime-time event that *just* passed called the SUPER BOWL, where every normal company that wanted something advertised to a large amount of the general public did so during *this* event.

Did you sleep through the Super Bowl Sony? Does your company exist in a dimension where advertising during the Super Bowl isn't relevant/effective? I'm listening.
  • European commercial is by far the better one. It's actually one of the best commercials I've seen if I may say so.
  • European one was awesome!=D
