The lights are on
The recent release of Mass Effect: Deception, a new novel written by William C. Dietz and published by Del Rey, didn't sit well with fans.
Upon its release, a lengthy Google document was created outlining many of the book's errors. BioWare has since acknowledged the issue and is releasing a new version of the book with the errors corrected.
"The teams at Del Rey and BioWare would like to extend our sincerest apologies to the Mass Effect fans for any errors and oversights made in the recent novel Mass Effect: Deception," the publisher said on its forums. "We are currently working on a number of changes that will appear in future editions of the novel.
"We would like to thank all Mass Effect fans for their passion and dedication to this ever-growing world, and assure them that we are listening and taking this matter very seriously."
William C. Dietz also previously wrote Resistance: The Gathering Storm, Halo: The Flood, and Hitman: Enemy Within.
I have this and am dissapointed in the inaccuracyu of it, and glad bioware is owning up to the mistake.
Next up, Mass Effect lunch boxes, backpacks, trapper keepers and pez dispensers!
It's just the usual "lets pound the heck out of peoples wallets until they get sick of buying xxxx brand" mentality. They probably said "hey Mr. Dietz, here's some money. Read this video game manual and write us a book!
All I think of at this moment is the red shirt guy.
Wow, now that is a lot of errors! No wonder they are going to correct this book.
The fact that BioWare is redoing the book is the best. This is why I love them, they care.
cant wait for mass3 still
So with that many errors did they just rewrite the entire novel?
The book title says it all.
I feel bad for the author. But then again, how the heck did they miss those errors anyway?
wow the author should have at least researched a little on mass effect's lore before he wrote the book.
Glad I didn't pick it up when it came out. I just need to wait a little bit and everything will be smoothed over.
Judging by fan reaction I can only assume Dietz career will skyrocket after this
That's another concept that usually dosen't sit well with me. Books based on games. I only really liked the Halo books.
Wow. I just finished reading the Google Doc and DAAAAAAAAAAAAAAYYYUUUUUUUMMMMMMM there are al ot of errors. Some of them aren't that major, but there are some serious continuity errors that would essentially prevent this book from existing in the Mass Effect universe entirely. Glad to see that the community caught them and Bioware is going to fix the issue.
Hell, I had a problem with Bioware changing a lot of things in ME2 that completely negated certain codex entries from ME1, but people said I was being ridiculous.
Lore is important. No one should mess up lore to the point of completely changing what is accepted as fact in the world the lore pertains to.
LOL that was a lot of errors
