Minecraft LEGOS Made Official

by Jim Reilly on Jan 24, 2012 at 08:25 AM

A pitch by developer Mojang to create an official LEGO set for Minecraft is becoming a reality.

In December, Mojang revealed it had been working with LEGO CUUSOO to gain support for Minecraft LEGOS. LEGO CUUSOO is a website where users can submit ideas and concepts to turn into legitimate projects. Each idea needs at least 10,000 votes in order for it to be reviewed.

"Until now, the project has been in the LEGO Review—a stage before product development begins where a LEGO Jury evaluates the idea’s feasibility as a product and makes a decision," the website said.

"We're happy to announce that the Minecraft project on LEGO CUUSOO has passed the LEGO review and we are now developing a concept that celebrates the best aspects of building with the LEGO system and in Minecraft. We can’t wait to show it to you—but it isn't ready just yet."

More details on Minecraft LEGOS will come at a later date.
