Developer Mojang today revealed it's working directly with the LEGO Group to bring out an official Minecraft LEGO set.

"It’s clear to us that there are many creative people with good ideas for this and we want to throw our own hat into the ring and start this project to bring the best LEGO Minecraft builders together," the studio said on the official LEGO CUUSOO website, where users can submit ideas for LEGO sets.

"Minecraft is about placing blocks to build anything you can imagine in the virtual world. You can build anything you imagine with LEGO bricks in the physical world. Minecraft and LEGO were meant to be together."

Mojang said it's invited several LEGO fans behind the various LEGO Minecraft projects to collaborate with the team on ideas. Additionally, the developer will agree to donate 1% royalty from LEGO CUUSOO to charity.

I used to play with Legos before they became expensive as all heck...albeit,they've always been somewhat expensive...but I'm a little perplexed,considering you can get the game for...oh,$20 or so? And a set of Legos will likely be more...maybe for that...doing it yourself feeling...? *Shrugs* Then again,I may just be a cheapskate.

I always felt like Minecraft was just virtual Legos...When you make virtual Legos into real Legos aren't they justLegos? I suppose they could make sets to make animals and such.

This seems rather pointless. You can just use regular LEGOs to make the exact same thing. The only worth while thing from the LEGO set would be the guide book, but it still is easy if you use your imagination to recreate it.

I don't know if the wording is just weird, but the statement, "the developer will agree to donate 1% to charity" makes it sound like someone had to force Notch to donate a share of his money.
