The Old Republic Cost A Ton To Make

by Jim Reilly on Jan 20, 2012 at 09:17 AM

As you can imagine, creating a MMO title the size of Star Wars: The Old Republic wasn't cheap. A new report says the game's initial cost was upwards of $200 million to develop for EA.

According to the Los Angeles Times, it took more than 800 people over six years to get Star Wars: The Old Republic out the door last month. The game's cost will continue to rise as developer BioWare adds additional content.

The game's free 30-day trail is quickly coming to an end, and BioWare is keeping a close eye on how many of the million registered users stick around after to pay the monthly $15 fee.

The studio released a new video recently that highlights some of the updates coming to the game in the near future.
