DICE Talks Mirrors Edge 2

In a recent interview, DICE producer Patrick Liu discussed the possibility of a sequel to the free running game.

In the full interview over at Spong, Liu was asked if gamers would be receptive to another entry in the series. "Yeah, definitely. I think it’s something that people are ready to get into again." Liu goes on to express his belief that the game has developed a cult following, and that if the team were to build a new game, they'd know how to fix what was broken or disliked about the original.

There's been growing buzz in the gaming world about the likelihood of Mirror's Edge 2. Earlier this year, EA Games President Frank Gibeau spoke about the possibility of a sequel. Later in the year, rumors abounded that Mirror's Edge 2 was in production using the Frostbite 2 engine.

Our two cents? We would be totally stoked to play another game in the Mirror's Edge universe.

  • *** I hate it when companies tease us with this sort of thing. Individual high-ranking employees have been giving out vague comments about the possibility of a sequel since the first one was released. Why don't they just announce it and be done with it?

  • I love this game! It's the sole reason I got into parkour and to hear that a sequel is so close is just about the best thing to happen today.

  • absolutely!!!! AWESOME!!!!

just please dont change the whites, reds, greens, and blues

  • I already forgot what happens at the end of the first one. Looks like I'll need to re-rent it and do another play through.

  • I want this game! I would give every stupid, derivative, creatively bankrupt, me-too military shooter for ONE MORE Mirror's Edge game. I don't care how unpopular that thinking may be - you shouldn't be making games exclusively for the tools who define what games are mega popular. How many of those idiots will just trade your precious Battlefield 3 in a week before COD Modern Warfare 3 comes out? Those gamers suck, and far less studios should be catering to them. Especially DICE, who has some genuinely creative ideas in them and great artists who can create a game like Mirror's Edge with style and great color usage. That game was amazing (except for the game killing bugs in the PS3 SKU), and I'd LOVE to see what a Mirror's Edge 2 could be. Announce it already EA....or don't, but still be making it (I actually like how EA announced Syndicate. We all knew it was coming, but they didn't announce it too soon. They clearly didn't want a "Final Fantasy Versus situation" on their hands)
  • XD nuff said lol

  • I would love to play a Mirror's Edge sequel. The original is still like one of my favorite games ever.

  • cool can't wait.

  • A sequel would be great! Amazing!

  • Would be great to have this game! I loved everything they did right with the first in the series.

  • I'd LOVE to see a sequel.

  • Waiting for it so eagerly.,.,.

  • This game needs to be made. I loved the first one; it's in my top favorite games on the 360. I hope they can add a unique multiplayer.

  • Mirrors edge was fun as hell, MAKE A GOSH *** SEQUEL!

  • Mirror's Edge is a very fresh and different take on action platformer. The game was good enough to deserve a sequel and more. Working on Mirror's Edge 2 could be a welcome change for Battlefield fatigued DICE.

  • Yes please. Thank you.

Alright, I was polite, cough it up now

  • Oh Billy!

  • I never played the original one but the trailers and screenshots always looked great. If this was actually made and used Frostbite 2 I'm pretty certain it would look amazing.

  • I'm actually in the middle of playing the first one right now. I stopped for a bit, since I got a headache from playing the first one a lot. Hoping to go back to it soon.

  • Broken parts were shooting levels. They should try with stealth gameplay instead, that would be more appropriate for this game because if developer "fix gunplay" this will become just another shooter.
