Star Wars: The Old Republic Release Date Announced

by Jeff Marchiafava on Sep 24, 2011 at 05:51 AM

BioWare has been taking its sweet time to ensure that Star Wars: The Old Republic will live up to MMO fans' expectations, but the wait for the game just got a little easier, as we now have a release date to count down to.

Quelling fears that The Old Republic could slip into 2012, BioWare's Dr. Ray Muzyka and Dr. Greg Zeschuk made the announcement at Eurogamer Expo that The Old Republic will release in North America on December 20. European players will have access to the game two days later on December 22. Zeschuk took the opportunity to thank eager players for waiting so long. “We appreciate the patience of the millions of fans who have been waiting for the game’s release. When we launch this groundbreaking MMO with world class storytelling this holiday season, we hope you will agree that it was worth the wait.”

BioWare also announced the pricing plan for The Old Republic on its website. Gamers who buy the MMO will be able to play the game free for 30 days, after which they can choose from three different subscription models: A one month subscription for $14.99, three month subscription for $13.99 per month, or six month subscription for $12.99 per month.
