The lights are on
We heard earlier today that BioWare's Mass Effect 3 has been pushed back to a 2012 release date. Now EA has warned that the same fate could befall BioWare's other hotly anticipated title, the MMO Star Wars: The Old Republic.
Kotaku reports that during EA's investor call today the publisher admitted to an "outside possibility" that Old Republic will not be launched this year. Even in the event that this ends up being the case, EA still plans to release the game before the end of its current fiscal year, which means it would arrive in March 2012 at the latest.
EA games label president Frank Gibeau said the publisher still "fully anticipate[s]" Old Republic arriving in the second or third quarter of this fiscal year, making a late fall or early winter release most likely. Gibeau stated that they aren't ready to provide a specific release date because they want to gather data from the beta.
We'll hopefully have a better sense of how far along Old Republic is coming out of E3, so stay tuned.
Darn you BioWare and your delays! I guess this will just give the team more time to make sure the game is as polished as possible so its good, same with Mass Effect 3 too.
Mass Effect 3 AND SWTOR?!
Okay to be honest I knew neither of them were coming out this year, its just a shame knowing both games aren't going to be in my house in 2011.
NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO! **BRAAAHHHH**! 2 of my most anticipated games delayed in the same day.......
I'm totally fine with it. One complaint I may have about BioWare is that some of their games are not as technically polished as they could be, e.g. ME1, DAO. But the games are always brilliant so those complaints fade away. Moreover this is an MMO, and it's very easy to screw up the launch of an MMO with technical issues. And SW:TOR is supposed to go up against WoW as the top MMO; not an easy task.
Eh...I'm actually kinda glad ME3 is getting pushed back to 2012 and I wouldn't mind if SW:ToR did as well. It would give me more time with Skyrim and whatever other games I happen to be playing near the end of 2011. Plus if more time waiting means a better product and thus better experience down the road, so much the better.
Two of my most wanted games slipping into next year? Sad day. Way to celebrate May the 4th EA.
I have been slowly building hype for this game.it will be great,i just dont know if i can afford a new PC to run it!
am i the only one who thinks "omg the game looks like ***...do i realy want it?"
Of course...they have been working on it for a long time so why not push it back? This is annoying to say the least considering all the info they keep releasing about it
I hope they do push it to 2012. I don't want it to be released against Skyrim. Don't make me choose, Bioware! I love both you and Bethesda equally!
I hope it dosnt get delayed.
