Director Ridley Scott Joins Hollywood Talent Working On Call of Duty Elite

by Matt Helgeson on Aug 10, 2011 at 06:46 AM

One of Hollywood's most respected directors has signed on to develop "exclusive episodic content" for Activision's Call of Duty Elite online service.

USA Today reports that Activision publishing CEO Eric Hirschberg told attendees about the Scott deal at the 13th Annual Pacific Crest Global Technology Leadership Forum in Vail, Colorado.

"Just like any other passion that people spend a lot of their free time doing, Call of Duty players share a common language and a common experience and we think we can create some entertainment content that they will love and talk about and share," commented Hirshberg.

Ridley Scott's brother Tony, who directed such films as Top Gun and Enemy of the State, will also be working with Activision. This announcement follows the revelation that Arrested Development cast members Will Arnett and Jason Bateman would be working to create content for Call of Duty Elite.

The addition of Ridley Scott to the service is certainly exciting news for gamers. His films Alien and Blade Runner are two of the most influential movies on game art and design in history, and his more recent film Black Hawk Down is a definite influence on Call of Duty's frenetic cinematography.
