The lights are on
Sonic's metallic doppelganger is confirmed for Sonic Generations. This official Sega news lines up with the supposedly leaked full stage list for the game, which labels Metal Sonic as a boss fights.
Could Sonic Generations include a remake of the 2D side-scrolling race against Metal Sonic? If that's so, then we can also look forward to a 3D race as modern Sonic. This just got a little more exciting.
Now, for your amusement, this modded fight from Sonic & Knuckles with Super Sonic vs. Super Metal Sonic:

I miss the old style of rolling explosions used in 16 bit games...

Remember the Sonic fighting game, and Metal Sonic was a pain in the butt? That arcade machine must have 20 dollars of quarters in it.
That was awesome!
There were some "chase-style" boss fights in all the recent Sonic titles; Secret Rings, Unleashed and Colors. I'm pretty sure we'll see another Metal Sonic style chase fight in Generations then. Which is good because the "chase style" fights are always some of the best, and more uniquely "Sonic".
It would be really nice if they could somehow include stages from Sonic X-Treme in Generations. Seems like a colossal waste of some people's time at Sega Technical Institute to work so hard on some amazing (for the time) game demos, just because Yuji Naka was a Dick and wouldn't cooperate with the US Sega Studios. But they still managed to get playable levels for at least 3 zones done. Why not make new versions of the Jade Gully, Crystal Frost and/or Death Egg zones to give some closure to that project?
Ah, Sonic & Knuckles... I miss you. Loved that music, by the way
I don't trust him or his pointy nose!
i am really looking forward to generations
His face says, "Who wants some" better than Duke Nukem
I bet the GI Staff is still hoping for Shadow to be in the game
Don't really care all that much, but it's kind of cool. I haven't really been into Sonic all that much since I was a kid and back on the Sega.
