Want Turtles In Time Re-Shelled? Buy It Before It's Gone

Ubisoft's stylized remake of the classic Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles beat-em-up, Turtles in Time, was released in fall of 2009. Now, as it approaches its two-year anniversary, the game is apparently about to disappear from download services.

Joystiq has confirmation from Ubisoft that beginning June 30, Turtles in Time Re-Shelled will no longer be available for purchase. Only the PSN version is mentioned, but since Joystiq says that an expired license is the cause for the removal, I'm guessing this goes for the XBLA release as well.

I downloaded Re-Shelled back when it was released and had a blast playing through it co-op with a buddy. Personally, I'd recommend nabbing it while you can if you enjoy dumb, fun co-op games.

  • I got it during the holiday sale for 400 mp, played it for 10 min, and I haven't picked it up since.
  • I think I might grab this then. If anyone's trying to play, my gamertag is thebeastnj on XBL.
  • This is the exact reason I am not for downloadable games. Once the studio decides to remove the content, we, the gamers, are left in the dust. We truly don't own anything when it is downloaded, and even with the advancements in hard drive technologies, they can still fail. When are our rights going to be protected?
  • I need to buy some PSN cards quick! good thing im going to the mall tommorow, now I just need about $30 to buy all the games and DLC I want...
  • :O

  • This game was short but really fun. They should make more Turtles beat-em-ups

  • Still have my SNES cartridge, so I think I'm all set.

  • I really don't need this I still play the SNES via emulation on my modded psp but I don't get why they take down digital games like Double Dragon I never got a chance to get it since it was already taken down when I my 360
  • It's kind of stupid.. They wont pay for a license or the licensee wants too much. Both loose money.
  • What I'd like to know is if you can still play it over PSN or XBL? If that too is going the way of the dinosaurs, that is horribly wrong, in my opinion. Sure, I can still play on the same couch, I suppose, but what about my friend in Utah who I don't get to see anymore? Or my friends in Connecticut? Two years is pretty early.. and this entire story makes me wonder "why?" I can still download some of the very first XBLA games I've purchased, what's the story with this? P.S. The arcade port is much more fun :p
  • I love this game i saw it awhile ago and kept pushing off buying it. then i saw on the PSN main page the ad saying get it while you can so i bought it and now idk why i waited so long to get it. my only worry is when it's gone if something ever happens to my PS3 i guess i won't have anyway to get it back.
  • hell yeah i do.

  • If they put this game up in the PS+ deals I might get it. I still haven't activated mine but I still got time. I didn't find any good deals this mo. except Deathspank which was taken down pretty fast, so I'm hoping something will be up next mo. If I activate it soon it should reach well into next mo. as it says I still get 30 days from the day activated.

  • wish i could afford to pick this one up right now. my backlog is so deep its not funny.
  • Man i loved the 1980's calsiim gonnahto gobuy this soon!

  • WTF? Curse my deep backlog, I've gotta get this.

  • Lol they can remake games in only 2 years after their original release? Odd. I wouldn't have expected that someone would do that. I wonder if it's still the same or not.
  • I have the SNES version. Im good.

  • Say what? This game will be unavailable? Why/how would they do that?
