The lights are on
We heard earlier today that BioWare's Mass Effect 3 has been pushed back to a 2012 release date. Now EA has warned that the same fate could befall BioWare's other hotly anticipated title, the MMO Star Wars: The Old Republic.
Kotaku reports that during EA's investor call today the publisher admitted to an "outside possibility" that Old Republic will not be launched this year. Even in the event that this ends up being the case, EA still plans to release the game before the end of its current fiscal year, which means it would arrive in March 2012 at the latest.
EA games label president Frank Gibeau said the publisher still "fully anticipate[s]" Old Republic arriving in the second or third quarter of this fiscal year, making a late fall or early winter release most likely. Gibeau stated that they aren't ready to provide a specific release date because they want to gather data from the beta.
We'll hopefully have a better sense of how far along Old Republic is coming out of E3, so stay tuned.
Hey! Mass Effect 3 or The Old Republic. How about you leave one for me to play until the other releases? Is that too much to ask :(
Don't let Dragon Age 2 be BioWare's only (and saddest) release this year
If so, it would be for the best.
Im actually happy about this!!! I plan to buy a good pc next year so I'll be able to play!!
Take all the time you want, Bioware, to make it one of the best games ever.
Well this gives me some more time to get a PC.
No! This game, I tell you what. I've been following this since 2008. Oh well, it's still a day one buy no matter when it releases.
It would be very cool if it got out in 2011 though.
Take your time. As long as its as good as you've made it out to be, i don't mind. Gives me more time to upgrade my computer.
Skyrim and Deus ex will keep me for the fall/winter season
This is going to be an awesome MMO I cant wait but I hope it dosn't get pushed back to 2012
I talked to a guy playing the beta a couple weeks ago. While he said that he's not allowed to disclose anything he did say that it is going to be well worth the wait and that it unbelievably lives up to the hype.
SW:TOR will be promising and the wait won't hurt.
Thats ok. I have enough to do this year. Go ahead and hone your title and don't do what final fantasy 14 did. I'm all for this decision.
Mass effect 3 on the plate, make since
