Get A Taste Of The Upcoming Red Faction Movie

Sure, we've seen plenty of anime and CG straight to DVD video game offshoots, but THQ is going the extra mile with a full on live action feature. The Syfy channel has released a batch of production stills to show fans an early glimpse at what's to come.

Of course, Syfy is known for such prestigious films as Mega Python vs. Gatoroid, Ice Spiders, and Rock Monster, so Red Faction: Origins has to be great, right?

Also, keep an eye out for Terminator 2's Robert Patrick, who NEVER STOPS WORKING.

  • looks absolutley terrible.
  • It's not looking that bad. Honestly, I can't wait.

What a lot of people gotta understand is that a big part of the campyness in many SyFy productions is intentional; it's what low-budget sci-fi/horror is all about. It's just what they do. When you take a look at SyFy's shows that they take seriously, there's a good level of quality.

Stargate: Universe, though the writing is choppy, it's done very well. The directing is decent, the effects are surprisingly good and the acting, despite the mediocre writing, is well above average (Robert Carlyle is always good though)

Eureka is another good one. It's supposed to be goofy, but the serious moments are done well.

And of course, Battlestar Galactica. The writing was contrived and overly-convoluted, but everything else was great. I mean, if before BSG someone had told me that any SyFy show would be nominated for an Emmy, I would not have believed it. But 3 wins and 5 nominations speaks pretty loudly.

So, give SyFy a chance. They've proven they are capable of doing a good show.
  • Ah, Syfy. The creators of such originals as Mega Shark vs Gatoroid, the quality of such. All I can do is sigh, why put a Red Factions in the hands of SyFy? That is almost akin to handing the rights to Uwe Bowel, just why?
  • I like some of the campy si-fi flicks on SyFy. Not sure how this will turn out but it should be better than Sharktopus!
  • Can't wait.

  • T2000 is an unstoppable acting machine.
  • Better it goes like this instead of making it a huge production and having it blow up in their face.

  • Excuse me while I bang my head repeatedly against a wall.

    *BANG*BANG*BANG*BANG*

    Ah, Much better!

  • Sweet!

  • Here we go Again

  • I like everything except that one screen at the bottom in the middle.

Regardless of how it looks, I'll still end up watching it anyway.

  • Don't forget that stirring drama 'Sharktopus'.  I kind of like those bad Syfy movies so I'm sure I'll half-watch this on TV as I work on my laptop.  Good times.

  • Why are people complaining. Would you rather have a big budget movie for theaters that is absolutely horrible like most other video game movies? At least from these screens it looks like SyFy is going to be keeping true to the look of Red Faction. I can't wait to see it. Even if it is kind of cheesy.
  • kool

  • Oh god nothing good ever comes on the syfy channel this is doomed, should have been big buget movie or big buget show.

  • Nothing quite hits the spot like a pizza, a cold one, and a B-movie. Bring it on, SyFy! :)

  • Noo! SyFy Movies SUCK! They have the worst actors and graphics for their monsters. They will make an abomination of what it could have been made by another company...

  • Oh god WHY? Ugh!

  • I'll be interested to see how it turns out.

  • Why does SyFy always need a fat soldier in every "movie" involving some sort of military? He looks like a fool, and it completely takes away from a possible good flick.
