by Phil Kollar on Apr 20, 2011 at 05:01 AM

[Update]

EA has already revealed that new copies of Alice: Madness Returns will include a code for a downloadable copy of its predecessor, American McGee's Alice. That marks the first the the game will be available on consoles. Previously, the publisher wasn't saying if the download would be available to people who didn't buy the new game. Now we know that it will be.

[Original Story]

American McGee's Alice will be available on the PlayStation Network and Xbox Live Marketplace for $9.99/800 Microsoft Points around the time the game launches, June 14.

There's plenty of reason to be interested in Alice: Madness Returns, the upcoming twisted adventure from designer American McGee. But if you never had a chance to play American McGee's first Alice outing, you're in luck.

CVG is reporting that according to McGee himself, Madness Returns will come with a code packed in allowing players to download the original American McGee's Alice. This will be the first time that the 2000 PC release is playable on consoles.

McGee also promises that Madness Returns will have DLC in the form of new dresses for Alice that "come with special abilities and enhance how you play through the game."

No word on if the original Alice will be available to purchase and download separately through Xbox Live Arcade and PlayStation Network without purchasing Madness Returns, but that has been the norm for similar releases such as Call of Duty Classic. Here's hoping!
