The lights are on
Following recent rumors that Nintendo would drop the price of the Wii from $200 to $150 in mid-May, the company sprang into action earlier than expected for a smaller discount. This move looks to be in service of clearing out inventory in advance of Nintendo's announcement of a new HD console at or before E3.Retailers GameStop, Best Buy, Amazon, and Target have all fallen in line with the new $169.99 number. Whether Nintendo will drop the remaining $20 to hit that $150 mark anytime soon is anyone's guess. Though it seems unlikely that we'd see two price drops in the span of two months. The latest black and white Wii systems include the following:
[GameStop is the parent company of Game Informer]

Definitely a sign of the next Nintendo Console.
Indeed. They could drop the Wii down to $150 at E3 and then announce the successor. I also saw that the code name for this new council is Nintendo Cafe.
the fact that they are doing a price drop before the rumored date of the drop drop might be a hint that they will announce something about the new system before the rumored E3 reveal.
Still not worth it. I bought one for my fiance as part of a Christmas gift and neither of us have really used it except for literally the first 2 days. Out of all the titles they have, there are literally only about 5 good ones. LAME. Shovelware and intended for kids ages 8 to 10.
Now we're all left wondering why we didn't take the price drop rumors as a sign of a new console. Deduction skill fail!
Can Gamestop, the parent company, ever tell Gameinformer to take out the trash or they're grounded?
meh
NO WAAAAAYYYYYY!!!!!! didnt see that comin
I can't wait to hear more about their new HD console!
I want to sell my wii I never use it. The only good game coming out for it is zelda. I thought the first Conduit was boring and unoriginal so I'm not getting the second one. My wii works I think but it makes this obnoxious sound you think I can still sell it at GameStop?
$170 are kinda odd for a price cut, also I'm curious if there is gonna be a price cut here in Europe.
Not to sound rude, but what's the point? If someone didn't buy a Wii by know, a $20 price cut probably won't do it for them.
Anyways, I can't wait to here more about their upcoming console. I'm always excited for new things from Nintendo.
wen I get a job, I'll buy one.
