Aliens Vs. Predator Developer Launches Social Games Division

by Phil Kollar on Mar 07, 2011 at 08:50 AM

Back in December, Rebellion launched a beta for Evil Genius, a free-to-play Facebook iteration of the quirky PC strategy game. Apparently the studio has been enjoying their time in the world of social networks, as they've decided to launch a new division devoted to social games.

Rebellion CEO Jason Kingsley explained the company's decision:

"One thing that has become increasingly apparent over the last few years is that gamers can’t be defined as just people who own consoles – people who use social media like Facebook or use smart phones all play games and this is an exciting new opportunity that we want to explore."

Rebellion is a U.K. developer best known for traditional console games such as last year's Aliens vs. Predator and 2009's over-the-top shooter, Rogue Warrior. The studio has not yet revealed what products, if any, are being worked on for Facebook and other social networks aside from Evil Genius.
