The lights are on
For the last year or so, PlayStation 3 commercials have ended with a similar phrase emphasizing the system's many functionalities: "It Only Does Everything." In 2011, they'll be shifting gears to a new message that they want on gamers minds.
The new marketing slogan focus -- "Only On PlayStation" -- was revealed by Sony senior brand manager Scott McCarthy in an interview with Industry Gamers. McCarthy said that where as "It Only Does Everything" was a message focused on selling hardware, "Only On PlayStation" will be more about the software, highlighting such major 2011 PS3 exclusives as Killzone 3, Infamous 2, Twisted Metal, and Uncharted 3.
According to McCarthy, this year presents "the strongest lineup we've ever had." Looking back over that list, I find it kind of difficult to argue. Does the idea of Sony pushing these games that are "Only On PlayStation" make you happy to own a PS3 (or want to purchase one if you don't)?
I like it. Short and bold, and incredibly simple. It's perfect for the PS3, this is easily the best year the console's going to have yet.
Well they kind of cant say it only does everything anymore unless they would like to add "It only does everything as long as you hacked it to get Other OS back." Then Kevin Butler could add the VP of Homebrew to his long list of accolades.
this actually makes me angry at sony, because they're hogging all the good franchises. I hate excusivity(?).
As long as Kevin Butler is still there then I'm fine :-D
Cool. I like the switch because it really captures what PS3 will be about this year: exclusives.
I love my ps3, like i tell everybody my ps3 is my bi#$$ lol. I didnt have one for the longest time but made sure i got one when i was on house arrest. All i did was play it and i can honestly say im on my third ps3 lol, oh yeah went right threw em day and nite.
I try to stay away from console wars. I will say that when my buddy gave me his ps3, I was pleasantly surprised I didn't have to drop money on a wifi network adapter (it has a built in wifi), batteries for the remotes (they have built in rechargeables), or online service(psnetwork is free for multiplayer games). By the way microsoft charges extra for all that.
Yeah, it's a killer lineup. I agree with the first post that Xbox can't get over its massive Kinect nerdgasms and give the hardcore some exclusive love.
I'm really excited for Uncharted 3 and Infamous 2, so I'd have to agree that this year's lineup is looking great for both ps3 owners and gamers in general!
Very smart move. This year's line-up is amazing, so it makes sense. I already have a PS3 and plan on getting most of the exclusives coming, so it doesn't make much difference to me. Unless they get rid of KB. Then we'll have problems.
Yeah, because if they were talking about hardware they'd be talking about Move and, well...
Nah, I just can't afford to shell out even if I particularly wanted one.
There's almost too many awesome PS3 games coming out this year. This year isn't just looking up for PS3 exclusives, but if it pans out well, this could one of the best years overall in game history.
ps3 is only the illest
Very much happy to be a PS3 owner!
Very happy to be one
I'd Like A PS3, but i'm still in no financial situation to buy it.
