Felicia Day Starring In Dragon Age: Redemption Web Series

As game stories become more complex and rich, studios are increasingly turning toward other mediums to flesh out their in-game lore. Games like Gears of War and Dead Space have spawned comics and novels designed to expand the fiction in ways that games may not otherwise be able to. Mortal Kombat, no stranger to film adaptations, is getting into the fray with a series of online short films. And now the Dragon Age universe is getting its own series of webisodes, in the form of a six-episode run called Dragon Age: Redemption.

The series was co-produced, written by, and stars nerd-culture darling Felicia Day, who created the story based on her character Tallis, an elven assassin. And since Tallis is being played by Day, she's sarcastic and headstrong. As USA Today reports, Tallis is on a quest to capture a magician. Along the way she gathers a party and presumably learns a little something about the meaning of friendship. If you're worried that the series will be a complete embarrassment that will only provide entertainment through LARP-quality acting, ridiculous plot points, and cringeworthy special effects, take comfort in the fact that Day shares at least some of your fears.

"I am an organic gamer and I love games, and I particularly love this franchise," she says. "I put every single effort into making this something that gamers will be proud of. Even though we were constrained a lot as a Web series, none of the people who were involved took that as a constraint. They took that as a challenge."

Dragon Age: Redemption was directed by Independence Day's associate producer Peter Winter, and Lost's John Bartley was cinematographer. It's set to hit the web sometime later this year.
