APB Reloaded In Beta Form Next Month

K2 Network is moving swiftly to capitalize on their recent purchase of last year's failed action MMO, APB. The publisher is apparently aiming for a late February launch of a closed beta for APB Reloaded.

This news comes from the official APB Reloaded Twitter account, where it was also revealed that details on applying for the closed beta will be announced later this week. If you're curious about some of the potential changes in store for Reloaded, one of the game's new designers has a blog with several lengthy posts addressing the challenges ahead, including the possibility of implementing more GTA-esque story missions into the game.

Despite my strong distaste for APB when it launched last summer, I'm increasingly interested in seeing how K2 and GamersFirst will be handling the relaunch of the game. Stay tuned for more coverage as Reloaded nears playable form.

  • This is interesting, why did it die?
  • Bring on the GTAAPB missions!

  • I'm always glad to see a great concept like this getting a second chance. Hope that K2 and GamersFirst handle it well!

  • Hey the game had potential, all it needed was some orginization behind it to actually get the game to well, be a game. Customizing was bigger than actual gameplay, lets see what they can do.
  • its great to hear that a cool idea like this is getting another chance

  • I thought it looked pretty cool at E3 '09, so hopefully they can reach that potential now.

  • Well hopefully, this'll turn out well. :)

  • This groups looks like SVER from MAG (Hockey masks and hoodies)
  • There is ALOT to work on.  Good luck to them.

  • Would be nice if they re-released it in a more playable form. i was thinking about buying it the first time round, but after the reviews was glad i didn't.

  • Sounds interesting I might try the beta event though I never touched the game before like most people.

  • I'm glad APB isn't entirely dead. It sounded awesome in articles about it, and it actually made me sad that it's servers were shut down for it so quickly. Maybe K2 and GamersFirst can make it work.

  • Well I hope it sticks around for more than 90 days this time. It seemed like an intriguing idea, with the worst execution ever.

  • I don't know why they just let this game die, none of it is appealing at all.

  • I recommend mod support. I'd buy a game just to mod it, to make it a lot more fun. (Not in an unfair way to other players, of course.) I bought San Andreas for the PC, and I modded the hell out of it. Also, if the graphics aren't at least on Par with GTA IV, I'm out. GTA IV is nearing 3 years old, and most games still look crappier than it, like Mafia II. And hopefully a leveling system that offers incentives.

  • Hey, these guys spent a lot of money (maybe, not positive) to get everything for this game, and if they want to make a profit, then they have to do good.  They obviously feel that changes have been made for the best, and hey, i may look into this a bit.

  • Big question from me is - If it does well this time around(and I hope it does), will it be ported to consoles?
  • yaya, I always wanted to try this game :). now i have my chance.

    Thanks Gamerfirst!! :D

  • Mod

Maybe market the game this time. Hardly anybody even knew this game out last summer.

  • Hope it does better this time
