APB Purchased By K2 Network

by Phil Kollar on Nov 11, 2010 at 08:45 AM

Although APB shut down back in September (a mere 80 days after it launched), rumors have persisted that the action MMO or some of the tech behind it could be purchased. Now we have word that publisher K2 Network has bought the remains of Realtime Worlds' failed online game.

Eurogamer brings us this news, but if you've never heard of K2, don't be shocked. The small company is mostly known for localizing Asian MMOs as free-to-play, microtransaction-based titles for North America.

It's currently unclear if APB will return as a free-to-play game or if K2 will just be gutting the title for some of its technology, such as its impressive character customization tools. K2 Network will apparently be releasing an official statement next week, so if you've been holding out hope that APB will return in some form, stay tuned.
