Orion: Prelude Reveal Features Jetpacks, Dinosaurs, Other Awesome Things

by Phil Kollar on Dec 22, 2010 at 02:50 PM

Remember that game you always talk about making with your friends? The one where you fly around gorgeous environments with a jetpack while avoiding massive, deadly dinosaurs? It turns out newly-formed Spiral Game Studios is making it for you.

In this first gameplay video for Orion: Prelude, the debut title from Spiral Game Studios seems like an intriguing mix of the twitch, iron sights-based shooting of Call of Duty and the driving and sci-fi elements of Halo...plus dinosaurs.

Also worth noting is that all of the footage shown in the video is from a super-early build of the game that was supposedly put together in a mere six weeks. These Spiral folks clearly know how to create something impressive-looking quickly, and you'll be able to try it for yourself sometime next year in the PC beta, which you can register for now on the Orion: Prelude website. The final game will also be available on Xbox Live Arcade and PlayStation Network.
