Winter Uprising Skating On Thin Ice

by Meagan Marie on Dec 16, 2010 at 09:50 AM

The joint promotional effort organized by Xbox Indie developers – the Indie Games Winter Uprising –  has hit a few speed bumps in the form of delays.

Originally aiming for a uniform early December release, only nine of the fourteen titles promised have successfully launched during the window. The others – Cthulu Saves the World, Alpha Squad, Aphelion Episode 2, Zombies & Pterodactyls, and Rickenbacker vs the Aliens – have all been pushed to January at the earliest. Some delays are due to finding last-minute bugs, while others are result of the seven-day processing period standard to submitting indie games.

The delays have diminished the solidarity of the original idea, but the effectiveness of the promotion is still to be determined. Of the games that have been released, Epic Dungeon has sold the best so far, bringing in 6,000 copies in ten days. Other games like Break Limit have only sold 400 copies. We’ll update you with more numbers when they become available.
