Mass Effect 3 Hitting PS3, 360, And PC On Same Day

Spreading its signature sci-fi series to three platforms has been a slow but steady process for BioWare. The first game debuted as a Microsoft exclusive for PC and 360, but when BioWare was purchased by Electronic Arts it opened the doors for Mass Effect 2 to migrate to the PlayStation 3 in January. Finally the planets have aligned, and all three versions of Mass Effect 3 will launch on the same date.

The release date remains the ambiguous holiday 2011, but it’s nice knowing nobody will be left out in the rain while others enjoy the latest mission.

Releases Holiday 2011, until Activision announces MW3 and it's pushed into Q1, 2012. It'll happen.

Hopefully ME3 won't have scattered, waist-high cover that telegraphs every single enemy ambush in the game.

"Well, this is the 89th time I've turned a corner to find a big open room strewn with waist-high cover. Certainly THIS TIME I won't be ambushed by... ok, you are the dumbest bad guys I've even seen."

Will have to upgrade to the PS3 version then. Was happy to hear that it was ME3 and not some prequel type of stuff.

The problem with the PS3 version is that everyone who has already played the games on the PC or 360 is going to pick up the third game for the platform they finished the second game on. Like me, who owns all consoles, I would love to pick this up for the PS3, but that means I would have to sacrifice my saved data from my ME2 on my 360. The only ones I see buying this for the PS3 are people who do not own a 360 at all.

Good the Playstation 3 owners should not have to wait to get to play Mass Effect 3, they already missed Mass Effect 1 and Mass Effect 2 took a year to come out. At least they get the finale on time.

i think i heard you can't use your me2 save game file to launch me3? i might opt for ps3 version in that case but still unsure.

Although I am happy to hear that more people will be able to enjoy the Mass Effect universe, part of me is still a little upset that it is no longer and exclusive title. Don't get me wrong, I loved the PS3 when I owned one, but I specifically switched to the 360 because I felt they were getting better exclusive titles that I was interested in. Now I am feeling cheated. All I have left is Gears of War. :(

Hopefully they'll get rid that awful element minigame. Nothing takes you out of the story or action faster

I want the elevator rides again and the overheat weapons like in ME1 no more reloding and I will be happy,not that I wasn't happy with ME2 but I hated does loading times and getting stuck or having to restart the level again because I'm out of amo. Bringing back the level cap and skils seting would be good to.

Yeah, no $hit! Wasn’t this the whole point of porting ME2 on the PS3?

BREAKING NEWS: Mass Effect 3 no longer X360 and PS3 exclusive! Now coming to the Wii... on 9 discs!!!

Unfortunately the first Mass Effect will stay Xbox exclusive, cause Microsoft came there first and the second won’t be coming either, because Sony didn’t want a threesome.

Not to worry, two interactive comics will come in one very special bonus disc explaining the story of ME 1 & 2 for every Nintendo fan who missed out.
