Marvel Pinball Fighting Crime On XBLA And PSN This Year

by Phil Kollar on Nov 15, 2010 at 08:25 AM

Last week Pinball FX 2 creator Zen Pinball posted an intriguing teaser image that had us pondering if a Spider-Man-related pinball game was on the way. Today the studio has revealed that our Spidey senses weren't far off: They're creating Marvel Pinball for XBLA and PSN.

Set to be released as the first "expansion" for Pinball FX 2, Marvel Pinball will add four Marvel-themed tables to the addictive Xbox Live Arcade pinball game. The tables will be themed around Iron Man, Spider-Man, Blade, and Wolverine. Since Pinball FX 2 is currently exclusive to XBLA, Marvel Pinball will be released as a stand-alone game on PlayStation Network.

Zen Studios managing director Zsolt Kigyossy explained their excitement over working with the Marvel licenses:

"We are so honored to work with the greatest Super Heroes of all time, and have really focused our efforts into bringing each distinct personality to this one-of-a-kind pinball experience. You will find each Marvel Pinball table captures the essence of each Super Hero, creating a game that is an authentic Marvel experience. This is just the beginning of Marvel Pinball; you can count on more of your favorite Marvel heroes and villains to be making appearances in the near future."

As Kigyossy mentions, the developer intends to continue adding onto Marvel Pinball with further downloadable tables for it (and Pinball FX 2). No release date or pricing info was made available, but Zen Studios plans to release Marvel Pinball before the end of the year.
