Katamari Creator Departs Namco Bandai

by Meagan Marie on Sep 08, 2010 at 04:48 AM

We can’t say we didn’t see it coming. Confirmed by Play.tm, Katamari and Noby Noby Boy creator Keita Takahashi has left his post at Namco Bandai. Takahashi was quoted last week as calling Namco Bandai a “so-so company,” but in our opinion the departure is more about his desire to explore other artistic outlets than a direct jab at the publisher.

Takahashi is a trained traditional artist in addition to a game developer, and is currently collaborating on the design of a children’s playground in Nottingham City. We hope this isn’t the last time he dabbles in video games, however. His pitch for a new shooter was pretty intriguing.
