Tekken 6 Producer Calls Tekken Movie "Terrible"

Interested in the upcoming film based off of Namco's long-running Tekken series? You may want to cool your enthusiasm. The film's already been out for a while in Japan, and according to some recent Twitter activity, the producer for Tekken 6 wasn't a fan at all.

Posting on his English Twitter account, producer Katsuhiro Harada responded to a fan asking questions about the Tekken movie:

"That Hollywood movie is terrible. We were not able to supervise that movie. (It was cruel contract.) I'm not interested in that [movie]."

Responding to other fans who expressed their distaste for the film, he reiterated his own disappointment and distanced himself from the project once more:

"Please don't ask me about that movie. We did not have the supervision right. I don't want talk about that."

So what's the big problem with the film? Well, I haven't seen it either, but the trailer that's been floating around for months doesn't get me particularly excited. Check it out for yourself:

  • your mother. . . .

  • And your father will take you to see it.

  • Why would they even bother?

  • I didn't think a movie could be worse than the Street Fighter or Mortal Kombat movies guess I was wrong.

  • I dunno, it doesn't look TOO bad.. just not very engaging or interesting, and not so accurate to the games.  Not that I would shell out $10 to see it.

  • yeah but movies based on fighting games are never good so...

  • I saw the movie and let me tell you the i only thing i like is that almost all the characters look like Tekken game.  Im a huge fan of the game. SUPER SUPER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER Why they have to kill Steve Fox and Bryan Fury in the fu-ck-ing movie.  I told you it was a Spoiler and you read anyways.   The story is not even close to the tekken series.  Why Hollywood doesnt follow the story on every single movie based on video games .  The guy who made the movie said that they are fan of the game and when i saw them playing the game in the making of the movie, they where hitting the R1 and L1 buttons on the PS3,  in Tekken you dont use the Shoulder Buttons you only use the face buttons. The personality of each character was ruined too. I almost cried of anger.

  • I saw it. I expected more from the director of Free Willy 2.....

  • ha ha hahahahahhahahhaahahhah hah hahahah ahahhaahah hahah. oh god this movie is going to suck and i soooooo want to see it. ahahahhahah

  • It genuinely terrifies me that people let projects like these go that far into production. If the producer was ashamed of his movie...why dump so much cash into it?!!!

  • hahahah that trailer completed the checklist of bad movie trailers once it queued the nu-metal at the end there

  • Hold up, so this is like a made for tv movie or straight to dvd right?.... Right? Because that awesome Mortal Kombat video had a better budget than this whole movie, by the looks of this awful trailer

  • yeah....i'm still going to watch it. hopefully it will fall into the so bad it's good category.

  • This trailer doesn't look *that* bad, although I may be biased, seeing how I love cheesy movies :)

  • Video game movies are bad?

    Pot, meet Kettle.

  • Since both games have had dismal film careers, they should make Street Fighter X Tekken The Movie: The Battle of Mediocrity.

  • I don't know, i think it looks pretty good

  • Yeah, I saw this trailer a few months back. It looked terrible then too.

  • This looks pretty bad. I wouldn't see it if it was free.

  • I wouldn't go see this with or without his blessing. It looks like sh-t. I don't know how many one-on-one fights they can show before the audience just gets bored.
