Blizzard Offers In-Game WOW Pets With Real-Life Plushies

When Blizzard launched its online Pet Store for World of Warcraft in November, many WOW players and non-WOW players alike scoffed at the idea of blowing $10 on in-game non-combat pets that don't have any real use. Others (such as myself) mindlessly spent money on the pets because OMG THAT PANDAREN MONK IS CUTE. Whichever camp you fell into, Blizzard looks to be offering more incentive for future WOW Pet Store purchases.

According to a post on the official World of Warcraft website, Blizzard will be launching a new line of pet store purchases in the coming weeks. Unlike the previous two options, though, you'll now be able to buy real-life plush toys that will ship with a code for unlocking an in-game World of Warcraft version of said pet. Best of all, the plushies look freakin' adorable.

So we all already know that I'm a sucker who will jump on these toys immediately. What about the rest of you? Anyone who's going to check these out?

  • I really have to hold myself back on this one. Not to make fun of you WoW people but... Seriously.

  • cool? not sure what to say

  • Really? I think WoW just hit a new low.

  • does anyone remember the will shatner/mr.T commercials for this game, well im just puttin this idea out there, they should make these toys the kind u squeeze to make them talk, havin shatner/Mr.T/etc. doin voice-overs, lord knows they can use the cash

  • Plushies? Seriously!? What the hell, Blizzard?

  • I think this is a better idea than just buying an in game pet. This way you get something physical that you can display at your humble abode. I think they look pretty cool and no need to hate on them people.

If you are not a WoW player, of course this won't be for you. For those of you who are, this is a way to geek out even more on your WoW love.

  • just kinda gay dude thats all

  • I'd buy one. I bet these things sell out immediately.

  • I will buy the Sylvanas DC Direct figure and that is all.

I don't think the plushies are stupid, but if I'm going to buy them, it's going to be a Murloc or a Dryad.

  • I don't even know hwat those things are. One is a griffon I think, the other some kind of monkey-bat?

    BATMON!

  • I don't like wow but I have major respect for Blizzard and the Griphon is cute

  • still kinda gay but now 100% gift worthy

  • The awesome in-game models make it worth it. I don't even play and I'm digging that griffon creature.

  • I don't even play world of warcraft anymore, and im going to get both of these. I might break down and play again anyway, so i might as well have the codes to these amazing pets.

  • Totally adorable.  I have a feeling my friend and I will be purchasing these for each other and then exchanging them.  I'll buy him a griphon, and he'll buy me a windrider.

  • This is the first time I'll ever be able to use WoW and cute in the same sentence. I never really thought of WoW as "cute".

  • I like the idea but my sister has this thing called Webkinz and I HOPE WOW becomes like that

  • AH! so cute! but just like the $10 in game pet only deal they have, i will have to decline.  No sense in paying extra money then i already have to that game

  • Blizzard just wants to suck all your money now, huh?

  • I know at least two girls in my office who will absolutely "squee" at this news. They will have them on their desk as soon as possible.
