Nintendo Announces Black Friday DSi Bundles

Nintendo just announced that on Black Friday shoppers will be able to snag a Metallic Blue (new color) or White Nintendo DSi, preloaded with more than $20 worth of DSi software. The bundles are “priced for the holidays” and will be available “while they last.”

“These limited-edition bundles come packed with some of the great Nintendo DSiWare games and applications that have made Nintendo DSi such a big hit with shoppers young and old,” said Cammie Dunaway, Nintendo of America's executive vice president of Sales & Marketing. “The special price and pre-installed titles make the bundles a huge value for the holidays.”

Each color DSi contains a unique set of games targeting different audiences. The Metallic Blue DSi will snag you the titles below:

•    Mario vs. Donkey Kong: Minis March Again
•    Dr. Mario Express
•    WarioWare: Snapped!
•    Mario Calculator: Mario and Luigi
•    Mario Clock

The white DSi bundle includes the following:

•    Brain Age Express: Arts & Letters
•    Brain Age Express: Sudoku
•    Brain Age Express: Math
•    Clubhouse Games Express
•    Photo Clock

We don’t know what qualifies as “priced for the holidays,” but DSi currently retails for $169.99. It will be interesting to see if a price cut is associated with the deal, or if the inclusion of the DSi Ware titles is the only thing added to the pot to make it sweeter.

Earlier this month, Nintendo CEO Satoru Iwata spoke about DSi titles, admitting that they (and Wii Ware titles) haven’t been selling as well as Nintendo had initially hoped. These bundles seem to represent Nintendo making a push to publicize their downloadable service, as bundles traditionally are paired with retail games.

So is a new DSi on your holiday wish list? Or are you holding out for the recently announced DSi XL?

  • Just in case you feel like getting your hand ripped off for a DS. Too bad all those people who loose a limb fighting for these won't be able to play them any more. Maybe a mechanical limb accessory is in Nintendo's immediate future.

  • I'm still waiting until the big fat red DSi comes out... and then I'll trade up from my DSlite... I like the idea of four+ inch screens and that bigger stylus. Not to mention it'll fit nicely in my bag, so I have no problem with the size.

...though the DSiWare is tempting on that blue one.

  • ***, perfect gift for my mom. But I dont have any cash :C

  • Sounds like an interesting package

  • Waiting for the large screen version and a $50 price drop

  • Well of the 20 that will be available, you can always spend 10 times that much getting them from ebay the next day.

  • ...Nah. My DS Lite works just fine, I have no reason to buy into more Nintendo gimmicks.

  • WOW THEY SHOULD HAVE MADE THE MATALIC RED GOLD MARIO FOR THAT LIKE THE MICRO GAMEBOY. NOW THEY WOULD HAVE HAD EVERYONE WANTING IT I LOVE THE LIMITED EDITION MICRO FOR THAT REASON! SHINY! SINCE IT HAD ALL THE MARIO STUFF WITH IT I FIGURED THAT WOULD HAVE MADE THIS BUNDLE PERFECT

  • i'm gonna wait until they release the DSi XL. i wanna play all my games on a LAGER screen.

  • The Nintendo portables seem that they are just trying to milk us out of our money now. It's like the iPods, they come out every year and everyone seems that they need to buy the latest gen, in which case they really don't have to, but they do it anyways. It seems that Nintendo is going the same route. I'm not complaining, but I'd rather not try to buy a DS right now...

  • i want it.....

  • Uh I'll just stick with my Ds Lite because red tops them both!

mario clock and calculator? for real? does anyone else really hate and despise this lady, or is it just me. i feel like she completely represents the new "casual" direction nintendo has taken. ugh......

  • My Lite is working fine, so I have no reason to buy another DS, no matter what it comes with. Unless it's a new Ghosts & Goblins game done in the same style as New Super Mario Bros. But only then will I buy it.

  • I actually do want a DSi XL.  The bigger and brighter screens are the only reason.

  • I kind of wish I didnt buy my DSi when it came out.  There are all these new colors now, a new one coming out, and even deals on them.  Should have waited.

  • I am more than satisfied with my original DS.  Though the DSi XL does pique my interest.

  • Dude. i don't have a DSi yet. I'm going for it big time!!!

  • Not much of a handheld gamer, but if anything I think I'd wait on the DSi XL for the time being.

  • To bad I already own one :  (
