Looking Ahead To The Games Of 2015

by Mike Futter on Oct 17, 2014 at 10:23 AM

Whether part of an intended schedule or due to a delay, the games of 2015 are looking good. We’ve compiled a list of next year’s games, so you know what the future looks like for your platform of choice.

We’ll be updating this list throughout the rest of 2014, so check back with us as your future backlog begins to pile up. We're being conservative about some of the titles that were shown without gameplay, so if you see something you think should be on the list, let us know. We'll check back in and keep the conversation going.

Assassin's Creed Rogue (PC) - 2015

Play as Shay Cormac, an Assassin turned assassin hunter.

Aztez - 2015
One part strategy sim, one part beat 'em up, Aztez puts players in charge of the Aztec empire.

Batman: Arkham Knight (Xbox One, PS4, PC) - 2015
Rocksteady is donning cape and cowl for one last go at the Arkham series. This final title in the series will be on PC and new-gen hardware only, so if you want to see who is under the Arkham Knight’s mask (no, the title doesn’t refer to Batman), you’ll have to upgrade.

Battleborn (Xbox One, PlayStation 4, PC) - 2015

Gearbox's new title is a strategic, team-based shooter.

Battlefield Hardline - Early 2015

Visceral is taking the Battlefield franchise in a new direction. This fall's entry features cops and robbers instead of the military.

Below (Xbox One) - 2015

With its huge environments and challenging design, Capybara’s Below has something for fans of Dark Souls and The Legend of Zelda alike. Procedurally generated caverns hold numerous secrets for players to uncover.

Bloodborne (PS4) - February 6, 2015
From Software is taking a break from the Souls series to deliver its first PlayStation exclusive since Demon's Souls. The setting might be different, but Bloodborne definitely has a similar feel.

Chronicle: Runescape Legends (PC) - 2015
Jagex is looking to replicate the success of Blizzard's Hearthstone.

Darkest Dungeon (PC) - Early 2015
We got hands-on time with this Kickstarted gem at PAX East. It blends elements of XCOM and Dungeons & Dragons, while introducing the stress of dungeoneering into the mix.

DayZ (PS4) - 2015
Dean Hall's mod-turned-standalone zombie experience will be making the jump from PC to PS4 next year. The only question is whether it will still be Early Access on console.

Dead Island 2 (Xbox One, PS4, PC) - Spring 2015
Deep Silver and Yager are teaming up for a brand new take on the Dead Island series. Eight-player cooperative zombie killing is coming next year.

Dead or Alive 5: Last Round (Xbox One, 360, PS4, PS3) - Spring 2015
A new version of Tecmo's fighter is coming to new-gen and last-gen hardware.

Deathtrap (Xbox One, PS4, PC)
- 2015

Tower defense meets RPG in Neocore Games upcoming Deathtrap.

The Devil's Third (Wii U) - 2015
Tomonobu Itagaki's long in-development title suffered a setback with the collapse of THQ. Nintendo has struck a deal with him, and The Devil's Third is now a Wii U exclusive.

Dreadnought (PC) - 2015

Dogfighting isn't just for snub fighters anymore. Take a capital ship out for a test fight.

Dying Light (Xbox One, PS4, PC) - February 2015
Techland is continuing its zombie hack-and-slash fighting from Dead Island with publisher WB. The title introduces parkour-style traversal and traps to the mix.

The Division (Xbox One, PS4, PC) - April or later 2015
Ubisoft Massive’s ambitious, persistent online shooter is an enormous undertaking. We’ve seen developer walkthroughs, but have yet to get our hands on the game or its visually impressive Snowdrop Engine.

Dragon Ball Z Xenoverse (Xbox One, 360, PS4, PS3) - 2015
Dimps is back at the helm for a new Dragon Ball title. This time, characters will be able to power up during a match.

Evolve (Xbox One, PS4, PC) - February 10, 2015
Turtle Rock’s experience with Left 4 Dead has evolved. Instead of four players against an AI director, a fifth person takes control of a giant monster in a battle to the death.

Fable Legends (Xbox One) - 2015
Lionhead is mixing up the traditional Fable formula with a new 4v1 approach that puts one player in the role of the villain. With his/her eye in the sky, the mastermind will be able to lay traps and command minions to thwart the heroes.

Fenix Rage (Xbox One, PS4, Vita)
- Early 2015

One part Super Meat Boy, one part Sonic, entirely frustrating. Fenix Rage is hardcore platforming.

Firewatch (PC) - 2015

Campo Santo's inaugural title is a mystery adventure in the Wyoming wilderness.

Final Fantasy Type-0 (Xbox One, PS4) - March 17, 2015
Type-0 tells the story of 14 students with special powers who are drawn into a war between the Milites Empire and the Dominion of Rubrum.

Fortified (Xbox One) - 2015

Tower Defense with a 50s horror movie vibe.

Halo 5: Guardians (Xbox One) - 2015
Master Chief is bringing a new friend to the party when Halo’s next installment arrives next year. We’re eager to see more of 343 Industries’ next project.

Hellraid (Xbox One, PS4, PC) - 2015
Techland is simultaneously working on two titles for new-gen hardware and PC. In addition to the zombie-infested Dying Light, it is crafting a demonic first-person hack-and-slash called Hellraid which is being built on a new engine.

Hollowpoint (PS4, PC) - 2015
Paradox's first partnership with Sony will see up to four players take on a dystopian world dominated by malevolent corporations.

Homefront: The Revolution (Xbox One, PS4, PC) - 2015
Deep Silver and Crytek UK are teaming up to revive the Homefront franchise. The original was released under THQ and developed by Kaos.

Hyperdevotion Noire: Goddess Black Heart (Vita) - 2015
The Hyperdimension Neptunia series is getting an SRPG makeover.

Kirby and the Rainbow Curse - 2015
Nintendo's pink puff is getting a claymation makeover in his upcoming Wii U title.

The Legend of Zelda (Wii U) - 2015
We don't know much about the new title, but producer Eiji Aonuma promises an expansive, open world.

Let it Die (PS4) - 2015
Suda51's next crazy trip looks to be an ultraviolet romp. We saw our first trailer at E3, but are eager to learn more.

Mad Max (Xbox One, 360, PS4, PS3, PC) - 2015
When we last saw Mad Max at Gamescom 2013, it felt very familiar. Avalanche Studios will hopefully spend the time to differentiate the title and make it worthy of the Road Warrior legacy.

Mario vs. Donkey Kong (Wii U) - 2015
Mario and Donkey Kong go head-to-head again in this adorable puzzle title. This time out, there are more toys and over 80 puzzles.

Mario Maker (Wii U) - 2015
Have you ever dreamed of creating your own death traps for Mario? Now you can, in both classic and "New" 2D styles.

Mario Party 10 (Wii U) - 2015
The first Mario Party game for Wii U will give the Gamepad player control of Bowser, while up to four others play with Wii Remotes.

Massive Chalice (Xbox One, PC) - 2015

Double Fine is entering the strategy arena with its Kickstarted, lineage-based title.

Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain (Xbox One, 360, PS4, PS3) - 2015

Hideo Kojima has reconfirmed the open world espionage title for release in 2015.

Mighty No. 9 (Xbox One, 360, PS4, PS3, Wii U, Vita, 3DS, PC) - April 2015
Keiji Inafune’s Kickstarted spiritual successor to Mega Man is slated for release next year on just about every major platform. Maybe this will be the nudge Capcom needs to bring back the Blue Bomber.

Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate (3DS) - 2015
The wildly popular Monster Hunter franchise returns to western shores in 2015. Capcom promises it's the biggest leap forward the series has ever seen.

Mortal Kombat X (Xbox One, 360, PS4, PS3, PC) - April 14, 2015
After weeks of teasing, Warner Bros. and NetherRealm have pulled the curtain back on the duo's first fighting game built for Xbox One and PS4 (though it will be last-gen systems and PC, too).

No Man's Sky (PS4) - 2015

After a stellar first showing at VGX 2013, Sony made a smart play for Hello Games' upcoming exploration title.

Not a Hero (PS4, Vita) - 2015
Roll7, the developers of skateboarding gem Olli Olli, have set their sites on stylish gunplay at an oddly isometric angle.

OlliOlli 2 (PS4, Vita) - 2015
Roll7's second side-scrolling skateboard title will be set against movie sets in Olliwood.

Once Upon Light (PS4) - 2015
The top-down puzzle title casts you as a scientist in a dangerous and mysterious lab who discovers he'll die if he's exposed to light.

The Order: 1886 (PS4) - February 20, 2015
Ready at Dawn’s first PlayStation 4 game twists the Arthurian legend and melds it with Victorian London. Originally one of 2014's brightest PS4 stars, The Order: 1886 will now shine in 2015.

Persona 5 (PS4, PS3) - 2015
The long awaited next entry in Atlus' RPG-meets-social simulation will be out in North America in 2015.

PGA Tour Golf (Xbox One, PS4) - Early 2015
EA has replaced Tiger Woods with a navy vessel crashing into an island. This isn't the same old golf game EA has put out recently.

Project CARS (Xbox One, PS4, Wii U, PC)
 - March 27, 2015 for all except Wii U, which is still TBA

Slightly Mad's racing title will be going head-to-head with Ubisoft's The Crew and, possibly, Sony's Driveclub this fall.

Quantum Break (Xbox One) - 2015
Remedy’s latest blends time-bending gunplay with live-action episodes. A full gameplay reveal is planned for Gamescom 2014.

Resident Evil (Xbox One, Xbox 360, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, PC) - 2015

Capcom is bringing the Gamecube-exclusive Resident Evil REmake to more platforms in 2015.

Resident Evil Revelations 2 (Xbox One, Xbox 360, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, PC) - 2015
Capcom is taking its once handheld branch of the Resident Evil series directly to home consoles next time.

Rime (PS4) - 2015
Tequila Works first announced Rime at Gamescom 2013, and after a year of silence, we got our first look at the same show a year later. The cel-shaded aesthetic reminds us of The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker, and that's perfectly fine by us.

Rise of the Tomb Raider (Xbox One, Xbox 360) - 2015

We knew this was coming, but we were glad to see the first bit of Lara Croft's new adventure at E3.

Roundabout - (Xbox One) - 2015

The first title from No Goblin, founded by Twisted Pixel alumnus Dan Teasdale, offers tongue-in-cheek humor and action inspired by Crazy Taxi.

Runemaster (PS4, PC)
- 2015
Paradox is bringing a Norse mythology-themed RPG to PS4 and PC next year. Our first preview likens elements of the game to the Heroes of Might & Magic series.

Saints Row IV: Re-Elected / Gat Out of Hell Expansion (Xbox One, 360, PS4, PS3, PC) - January 20, 2015

Saints Row IV is getting a new-gen makeover, along with a brand new adventure. Johnny Gat is on a mission to shoot Satan in the face.

Scalebound (Xbox One) - 2015
Platinum is wrapping up Bayonetta 2 for Nintendo, but we know the studio has struck a deal for its next title. Scalebound has a flashy aesthetic and large monsters to ride and fight alongside.

ScreamRide (Xbox One, Xbox 360) - 2015
Microsoft's amusement park creator was announced at Gamescom 2014. We only wonder why the team didn't call it VomRide. That would sell just as well... right?

Shadow Realms (PC) - 2015

BioWare is crafting a 4v1 game, pitting players against a villainous Shadow Lord. We played the game for the first time at Gamescom, but we don't expect to hear more about it until next year.

Silent Hills (PS4 confirmed, others TBA) - 2015

Hideo Kojima pulled a fast one at Gamescom 2014. After a silly cardboard box trailer for Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, a teaser for something called P.T. was shown. That turned out to be a playable teaser for a new Silent Hill game, making "P.T." one of the biggest surprises of the show.

Smite (Xbox One) - 2015
Hi-Rez's third-person MOBA will be making the jump from PC to Xbox One in 2015.

Space Engineers (Xbox One) - 2015

Space stations need maintenance. That's where you come in. You and friends will face the harshness of the star-filled expanse while keeping habitats up and running.

Space Hulk: Deathwing (Xbox One, PlayStation 4, PC) - 2015

Based on the classic Games Workshop board game, this first person shooter gives players a bolter and sets them on the hunt for Genestealers.

Splatoon (Wii U) - 2015
Nintendo's accessible, paint-splattered title brings arena shooters to the Wii U with a clever use of the Gamepad for real-time mapping.

Star Wars Battlefront (Xbox One, PS4, PC) - 2015
EA and DICE are reviving the fan-adored Star Wars shooter.

State of Decay: Year One Survival Edition (Xbox One) - 2015

Undead Labs is bringing its zombie survival adventure to the Xbox One with all of the content already available.

Superhot (Xbox One) - 2015

Team Superhot's successful Kickstarter set the time-bending first-person shooter on course for PC, but console gamers will get a crack at it, too. Superhot is coming first to Xbox One in 2015.

Titan Souls (PS4, Vita, PC)
- 2015

Born of the Ludum Dare, this title pits a tiny hero against massive bosses who can squash him in one blow.

The Tomorrow Children (PS4) - 2015
Q-Games is returning to 3D with a surreal, multiplayer crafting game called The Tomorrow Children. The story takes place in a fractured, alternate reality, in which players must collectively rebuild a city.

Total War: Attila (PC) - 2015
Total War: Attila focuses on the legendary Hun leader, who proved to be one of the most formidable opponents for the Roman Empire.

Tropico 5 (PS4)
 - Early 2015

El Presidente invites you to rule your own island nation in the fifth installment of Kalypso’s political simulation series.

Uncharted 4: A Thief's End (PS4) - 2015
Nathan Drake might be about to go on his last adventure, at least that's what Naughty Dog would have us believe from not-so-subtle audio cues in the E3 trailer.

Until Dawn (PS4) - 2015

Supermassive Games has completely retooled Until Dawn, dropping the Move input and focusing solely on the Dual Shock 4. The story evokes teen slasher flicks for a combination of cheesy and terrifying.

Viking Squad (PS4) - 2015
The game stars a group of vikings as they retrieve treasure for their possessed leader by beating up an assortment of competing soldiers and monsters.

Volume (PS4, Vita) - 2015
Mike Bithell's follow-up to Thomas Was Alone retells the story of Robin Hood with a Metal Gear Solid VR mission-inspired aesthetic.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt (Xbox One, PS4, PC) - February 24, 2015
CD Projekt bumped the conclusion to Geralt’s story from 2014 into early next year. The studio believes that the few extra months are necessary to deliver the experience fans expect. We suspect The Witcher fans are willing to wait.

Xenoblade Choronicles X (Wii U) - 2015
Nintendo has finally put a name on the RPG we had all taken to calling "X". The title is a spiritual successor to Xenoblade Chronicles rather than a direct sequel.

Yoshi's Wooly World (Wii U) - 2015
Nintendo has put a new title on Yarn Yoshi, and the title is looking like a gorgeously crocheted blanket.
