Microsoft's Indie Screenshot Extravaganza

During GDC, Microsoft announced a bevy of indie games that will be heading to Xbox One for the first time as part of Microsoft's ID@Microsoft independent developer games program. Some are games that have already been released on other platforms, but many are brand new. Over the past couple days we have covered some of these games, namely FRU, Habitat, Wulverblade, Hyper Light Drifter, It Draws a Red Box, and Caibre 10 Racing. Here are screenshots for 16 other indie games that Microsoft has said are coming to Xbox One.

Super Time Force

Super Time Force is a side scrolling shooter much like Metal Slug or Contra, except with more jumping, time travel, and dinosaurs. It's from Capybara Games, the makers of Superbrothers: Sword & Sworcery EP.


Guacamelee! Super Turbo Championship Edition

This is an updated version of the already released quirky "Metroidvania" style game. Super Turbo Championship Edition is the version for next gen consoles, and will include all the DLC that was part of the PC Gold Edition, along with new levels, new moves, a new story line, and a new boss battle and mini boss battle. 

 

Forced

Forced is a co-op arcade style action RPG for one to four players. The game puts you in the shoes of slaves in a tough fantasy gladiator school, condemned to fight to the death but determined to win your freedom.Players must utilize tactical elements and solve puzzles within the gladiator stages in order to survive. 


Gunscape


Gunscape is at its core an FPS construction kit where you can use a tool kit to create any kind of first person shooter you want, whether it be a single player campaign with a story or a multiplayer arena. Then you can upload those levels and share them with others, along with having the ability to play levels others have made.

Contrast

Previously released on other consoles last year, Contrast is a game that involves puzzle solving by players moving their character between the physical world and shadows.


Chariot

Chariot is a lighthearted physics-based co-op platformer. The premise is that a princess and her suitor carry a funeral wagon of the King through ancient mines filled with looters in order to bury the casket in a gold-filled tomb worthy of the King. 


Sixty Second Prime Shooter


An enhanced version of the dual-joystick shooting game initially released on the Google Play store in 2011, this game challenges players to find out how high they can score in sixty seconds, and features a minimalist techno grid aesthetic. The new Prime version brings a graphics upgrade, a new soundtrack, infinity mode and social leaderboards.


Divekick: Addition Edition +


An updated version of Divekick, the two button fighting game for Xbox 360 and PS3, Addition Edition adds blind select for ranked matches and every character in the game has had their stats adjusted.

The Last Tinker

This is a character action-platformer where the main character Koru is trying to bring color back into the bleak Tinkerworld.


Chuck's Challenge 3D

Chuck Somerville, the design veteran behind “Chip’s Challenge,” a puzzle game from way back in 1989, has created a new, similar  game for modern hardware. Chuck’s Challenge 3D is a puzzle game with a lot of of levels that constantly is introducing new puzzle mechanics as the game progresses. Players have the tools to create their own puzzles as well.


Nutjitsu

In Nutjitsu, you control a ninja squirrel trying to avoid guards and collect acorns.


QUBE

Qube is a puzzle game where the player uses high tech gloves to change objects in the environment. Initially the puzzles are color based but soon come to involve physics based challenges and platforming as well. 

On Page 4:  Riptide: GT2, Castlestorm, Strike Suit Zero: Director's Cut, and Pinball Arcade

Riptide: GT2


Riptide: GT 2 is a watercraft racing game that has players using their hydro jet vehicles to race through futuristic cities. The game encourages mid-air stunts, as any watercraft racing game should.


Castlestorm

A mix between physics based 2D destruction games and tower defense, Castlestorm has you building up a castle while simultaneously trying to take out the opposition's castle and their forces.

 

Strike Suit Zero: Director's Cut

Currently only on PC, Strike Suit Zero will bring huge space battles and dogfighting to new consoles.

 

Pinball Arcade

Pinball Arcade has the goal of bringing exact recreations of some of  the most beloved real pinball tables from Bally, Williams, Stern, and Gottlieb into the digital world.
