Replay – Resident Evil 4

Resident Evil is one of the most well-known series in gaming history, and gamers are eagerly anticipating the holiday release of the sixth core entry in the franchise. While it may feel recent, Resident Evil 4 fits within the Replay boundaries by releasing before the current generation of consoles. When it released in 2005, it turned Resident Evil conventions on their head with a new perspective and more of a focus on action. We decided to give it a try seven years later to see how it holds up.

Watch below to see our look back, featuring Tim Turi, Andrew Reiner, myself, and a special appearance by my father Paul Ryckert.

  • One of my fav replays!!!

  • Dan's Dad needs to be in more Replays. What if he did a Super Replay with Dan and Tim? That would be *** awesome!!!

  • I remember this game quite well, it was so much fun.

  • this is def one of my favorite games of all time. btw if you get all of the battle caps in the rows then you just get a shitload of gold or whatever the money is in that game. its pretty worth it.

  • fantastic and fun you guys truly have something hear.

  • I really need to play Resident Evil 4. I wonder if I could get my dad to play it too. :P

  • Tim in the first town where you get swarmed I ALWAYS get the shotgun and the ammo on the bed then promptly exit that house via the window. After that you should go to the house directly across from it (the one you are currently facing) go through it and there is a room with a metal door that the Ganados cant destroy. I get the shotgun ammo in the barrel and just blast them each time they open the door. If (this is unlikely) you run out of shotgun ammo just swipe your knife across their face and kick them down each time they open the door.

Also I never invested in the punisher, the red9 is so much more powerful and accurate. I always shoot for the head, i think it is much better than shooting for the legs because their heads always stay at the same level, it makes them stagger, and kills them faster. Yes aiming for the legs makes them fall down, but if loads of them are advancing on you, but then you are constantly readjusting your aim and they eventually get back up.

I have never really mixed up Salazar's or Sadler's names but I can never remember the name of the village chief.

To Dan's Dad Paul, the fact that you play it on the wii is amazing to me. I could not imagine pointing that damn remote at the screen that much.
  • Ohhhhhhhhhhh, Resident Evil 4. I need to play that game again... for the 10th time.

  • I would watch Dan's dad do a super replay of Resident Evil 4. Save up some vacation time and get on it!

  • I actually forgot how much I LOVE DAN'S DAD

  • I need to buy this one, man.

  • The constant talk between Paul and Tim was really funny.

  • oh if you dont go in the building with the shotgun, chainsaw guys barely ever show up

  • that double dash was priceless.

  • Dan's dad is hilarious!  His son's great, too.

Resident Evil 4 is such a great game.  I feel like they balanced the horror with the action perfectly in that game; Resident Evil 5 went too far in the action direction.  Resident Evil 4 also led to Dead Space, which is an even better game and much scarier.

  • you should do destroy all humans 2
  • Dan's dad is back!!!! this is EPIC.

  • paul ryckert is awesome! what happened dan? lol

  • YES!! Finally!

  • What a great & funny replay!! Such an awesome surprise that Dan's dad showed up. Total Father's Day awesomeness.
