The lights are on
Reiner and I were both big fans of the sometimes frustrating, always intriguing dark mystery introduced in the first Alan Wake in 2010. Now Remedy has released a new downloadable game starring Wake in a new setting. Join us for a quick tour of the creepy locale of Night Springs.
In this video, we jump into the beginning of the new game as Reiner explains what new weapons Alan has at his disposal and what to expect from the story (minus any major spoilers). We also debate our personal theories on just what the hell is going on in Wake's life.
Watch the video below, leave a comment with your theory on Alan Wake, and check out previous episodes of Reiner and Phil on our hub page.
I bought the (extremely awesome) collector's edition of Alan Wake, so I got the first DLC ("The Signal") for free and played through that. Unfortunately, I haven't played "The Writer," but I'm still going to buy Alan Wake's American Nightmare.
First i was going to go to bed.. then i saw this and was excited.. then i heard Project Mako and got really excited i wont be able to pay attention to this video i must know what Project Mako is!
I love that Alan Wake is focused on good storytelling and has great gameplay. I don't have a single theory about what's happening; I'm still unsure what's going on and am afraid to commit to just one theory. I haven't played the first DLC, but now, definitely want to then play American Nightmare. And, yes, that'd be strange, yet amusing, if H.P. Lovecraft could somehow be tied into to Alan Wake ( though that does sound more than a little horrible ).
i wuna play the first now
ya i'm going to pick up the first one to play through it this weekend. i was tempted when it came out, now seems like a good time. it'll put something new into the mix of the ungodly stream of shooters and rpg's flying at my face
Alan Wake theory: I believe that Alan is in an insane asylum. What I think is happening though is that he went crazy when Alice died, but it's believed that he's the one who did it. So he is being interrogated, but it's not the best way of going about since he has many personalities. What I also think is that all his personalities are the member's of the town and they're trying to get the story of what happened out of him.
I really liked the first game, but I rented it, so I never played the DLC. And that is what I have a problem with with DLC.
Yes, there is a umlaut in doppelgänger, also, nice "Reiner and Phil"
Definetely going to pick this up, first game blew my mind!
How does one cut one's teeth?
Nah I'm just playin' Reiner. Another nice vid. I still need to check out the first game.
Looks good to me.
Doppelganger is the English spelling, but it has an umlaut in the German spelling (and the 'e' comes after the 'l').
It is interesting too, how gamers are split between those who need good story and those who may think of story as a hindrance to the gameplay.
looks cool. Always wanted to play alan wake. now that the PC version is out, maybe i'll give it a go.
Just picked this game up, err-- downloaded it. The story reminds me more of an anime style or that of an actual book, where everything will be explained, just NOT in the opening sequence. Patience and thought are key to the experience. Action is super fun too.
indeed a great song......
