Reiner And Phil Play Alan Wake's American Nightmare

Reiner and I were both big fans of the sometimes frustrating, always intriguing dark mystery introduced in the first Alan Wake in 2010. Now Remedy has released a new downloadable game starring Wake in a new setting. Join us for a quick tour of the creepy locale of Night Springs.

In this video, we jump into the beginning of the new game as Reiner explains what new weapons Alan has at his disposal and what to expect from the story (minus any major spoilers). We also debate our personal theories on just what the hell is going on in Wake's life.

Watch the video below, leave a comment with your theory on Alan Wake, and check out previous episodes of Reiner and Phil on our hub page.

  • Gotta love Reiner & Phil.

  • What a pleasant surprise to have another episode of Reiner & Phil. ^_^

  • I didn't see this dlc for Alone in The Dark. What is this?
  • Watching this on Vita! Your guys logo is one of my backgrounds lol.

  • I was hoping for syndicate :(. Never played the first alan wake, but always wanted to. This could be interesting, too.

  • Project Mako... It'll be a Game Informer's version of a game show. Like Jeopardy or Trivial Pursuit. I'm calling it right now! Great Reiner and Phil episode, by the way :)
  • I loved the first one but sadly my 360 is out of commission :( This might make me get one again one day. I always wondered what happened to Wake's wife. Is that explained in the first DLC they were talking about?

  • Here is my theory on Alan Wake in the shortest possible way, Alan was minipulated by the darkness after Alice fell into the water too write a story that would set the darkness free but the darkness had to directly follow the story because any literature in Bright Falls comes true because of the Darkness, while Alan was writing (he was possesed pretty much) he figured out what was happening and put himself into the story and escaped with the last page blank and everything written came true. At the end Alan had to finish the story so when he started it he went into a trance which caused him to write Alice free but he was trapped so basically Alan is trying to write his way out. (Alan doesn't have magic powers the lake holds the Darkness which effects what people write and makes them true)

  • I enjoyed the first one to a degree, but I am not sure about getting this.

  • This game reminds me of Silent Hill.

  • Great R&P! Thanks for the look at the new Alan Wake. Looks like I'll eventually pick this up once my backlog of games starts to shrink.

  • Hmm...this is a series I might have to get into...

  • This game is just so amazing. I remember the first time I played Alan Wake, it just freaked me out because was playing it at night around 11pm. You never knew when enemies would come up be hide you and just slash you 2 times and then on the last chapter when that train car fell from the sky and landed right in front of me i was like OMG!!! lol it was just a great game and now this comes out and i cant wait til i can get it

  • Need to play it first then gotta get back to this! Don't want to experience second hand

  • There is only one thing that comes to mind when you say "Mako": Final Fantasy VII.
  • Big fan of the original.  Can't wait to download this.

  • I might have to try and play this sometime.

  • Excellent video! I just got done playing through the first chapter, and I feel it's got a lot to love, but also a lot to dislike. I can't wait to get through more of it.

  • Whoever they've got over there at Remedy that does music selection picks some fantastic mood setting stuff for Alan Wake. Made sitting through those between chapter credits sequences totally worth it for some of the haunting and completely applicable music they found. Never thought Lime in the Coconut would be so creepy.
