The lights are on
From Mario to Goldeneye to Zelda, the Nintendo 64 had a great variety of excellent games. One genre distinctly lacking on that platform was the RPG. This week on Replay, we take a look at Quest 64, one of the few RPGs released for the N64.
Tune in to this extra-long edition of the show to see the classic crew of Dan Ryckert, Tim Turi, Andrew Reiner, and I jump into this epic adventure. We've got dramatic voice-overs, improv singing, and a surprise Replay Roulette that very well could end up being a new fan favorite.
Did you think this episode of Replay was fun? Then you really should check out our Replay hub, which is overflowing with nearly two years' worth of past episodes for you to enjoy!
Wow, this was one of the best episodes of Replay by far! Mr. Ryckert and Mr. Turi just make for the perfect pairing here, particularly when Tim's reading the dialogue and Dan is just constantly harassing him. Then the Replay Roulette showed up, and Hybrid Heaven was just amazing to watch and laugh at. I really think a Super Replay is in order here.
That roulette reached a new level of hilarity.
If I remember correctly, Quest 64 was the only RPG on the N64 when it came out (might have missed one)
I ended up hating the game because it was such an incredible let-down having come from the rich selection of SNES rpgs. However, I did finish the game (once I gave up on the idea that talking to any NPCs could matter). I'm glad I made it to the end, though, because the last level that was all abstract was kind of cool if only because it was fairly straight-forward just battles and played to the strengths of the crude graphics.
Also, because of the way I leveled up my powers (not the best choices) the end boss was a bit of a marathon fight which became the most compelling battle because I needed to be so careful about what I did.
wat game is that
Excellent episode guys, Tim's voice acting was extra amazing this week. Never let Dan discourage Tim again.
I'm a big fan of Quest 64. That game was a lot of fun and I played it to completion multiple times. I always level up water first because that gave you access to healing spells which were super useful.
I'm on the fence about a Super Replay of Hybrid Heaven. It seemed cool and hilarious, but I'd rather see a Super Replay of Blue Stinger. (It was the roulette on Sonic Adventure)
God, I beat this game so many times. Still have it two rooms away.
THIS IS THE GAME I WAS TRYING TO REMEMBER FROM WHEN I WAS A KID!!!!!!
i remember staying up ALL NIGHT playing it, and then crying at the bus stop the next day until my mom took me home to get some sleep XD!
this game was a lot of fun
Oh boy, you know you've gotta do a super replay now. We need to see the rest of this game, it's just how it has to be.
Everyone loves the voiceacting,except Dan....
Response:I LOVE THE VOICEACTING, SHUT THE HELL UP DAN!
More voice overs! Dan doesn't know what he's talking about!
I love when Ben Hanson edits all those funny things the guy say into the video at the end and playing the "Too Sexy" song at the end had me rolling on the floor laughing. Awesome Replay episode yet again guys!
A super replay for Hybrid Heaven would be awesome. This is one of the best episodes of replay in my opinion. It even rivals the overblood and tail of the sun super replays.
You missed a huge opportunity, Ben, by not adding the naked silver-hair guy from the beginning into your music video.
Quest 64! I used to love Quest 64!
It's one of those games that I refuse to go back to in order to avoid the revelation that it really wasn't a good game.
Tim your priest voice sounded more like a backally scoundrel.
After your epic long super replay of Gallerians, you should most def. do a super of Hybrid Heaven.
You guys need to work in a Smith's reference into every replay.
Man, I am 100% ready for an Ultra Super Replay of Hybrid Heaven!!! Haven't laughed that hard in a long time. Keep up the good work guys!!
