The lights are on
On this week's show, we take a look back at one of the Gamecube's best games and Nintendo's most surprising franchise reinventions.
Andrew Reiner and Dan Ryckert join me in playing through the first 20 minutes or so of Retro's at-the-time-totally-shocking first-person take on the Metroid formula. Tune in to see how well it holds up and hear plenty of reminiscing about our thoughts on this turn for the series and where we'd like to see it go next.
Oh, and stay tuned after the main show for another Replay Roulette classic.
In the mood for more Replay? Me too. Join me at the Replay hub to see all of our previous episodes.
OMG! I have been waiting for this forever! This is my favorite game of all time. I can't wait to watch this!
Come on, we all know glass bounces.
Should have been a Super Replay. Amazing game.
Best game for the Gamecube, IMO. And Nintendo's best franchise, IMO. Too bad Other M turned out to be such a disappointment.
Guess it's time for a Super Replay of Fugitive Hunter: War on Terror.
i got a gamecube on my 6th birthday and this was my first game. i used to kno this game like the back of my hand.
I remember this game. I'm ashamed to say that it was my first Metroid game, but it definitely left a good impression on me, and I love the franchise now.
I am on a mission to find every videogame console I ever played and set up a perfect man Den.
I own this but every time I try to play the controls just keep me from getting anywhere.
This is definitely my favorite gamecube game. The enviroments are expansive but more importantly they were fun to explore.
Metroid Prime is awesome, but *** is it hard sometimes.
Oh man this was one the first GameCube games I had and I played the crap out of it because I didn't really have any other games. For whatever reason I never beat it though. Great replay choice. Sits well with my inner child.
Ah Metroid Prime, I won a $5 bet in middle school because of this game. Someone thought Samus was a guy so I bet him and brought the game to the house and showed proof when Samus removes her helmet.
This replay just reminded me of how truly great the Prime series was (this prompted me to start playing through the entire trilogy again) and how God-awful Other M was. PLEASE Nintendo, give Retro Studios the Metroid franchise back!
You guys should totally do a replay of Star Wars: Republic Commando! That game was awesome!!!!, it had some cool visor effects too.
Man in Minority Report, no wonder those people were meant to commit a murder with all the hench men and evil deadly robots at their command!
My only complaint about Metroid Prime was the absence of the creepy space song from the older versions; the one where you pick up your latest items or are about to go into a boss lair. Fortunately they brought it back.
Never got in to Metroid, just wasn't my cup of tea...
You can never go wrong with Metroid.
