The lights are on
In this week's replay, we explore the humble (and kind of sluggish) beginnings to a long-forgotten franchise that once held a special place in our hearts. Join me, Andrew Reiner, Ben Reeves, and Joe Juba as we boot up the PlayStation action-RPG Blood Omen: Legacy of Kain. And as always, stay tuned after we move on from our Kain discussion for a bonus Replay Roulette with a slightly less memorable PS1 game from GI's vault.
If you enjoyed that blast from the past and want to check out more Game Informer Replay videos, be sure to visit our hub page and enjoy reliving the memories.
Sweet episode, as always. I suggest you revisit some earlier Street Fighter games next time, in thier original format.
great replay like always
This series needs to be brought back.
I really enjoyed playing these games. I love watching Replay, keep it up guys.
Man I loved the legacy of kain series, it would be cool to see it again
Yeah it's still a really fun game (even with the slow downs). Got it from PSN after loosing my original copy. Anyways, we need a sequel.
BTW, Darksiders reminded me more of Soul Reaver than GOW and what not (can't recall) it was compared to in the mag.
Great replay guys. I'd love to see Jet Grind Radio, Shadow of Rome, or Deus Ex next
That one was terrible.
Croc: Legend of the Gobbos for future RePlay episode, please!
Good show this week, I never played this series before =)
"It looks like Hell."...
"Either that or it's just a big pit of fire or something."
"Or it's Michigan."
I'm not quite sure what the joke was there-- is it because Michigan, with its bitter winters, is the exact opposite of a pit of fire, the joke being just a bit of goofy silliness? Is it because there's a Hell, Michigan?
I'm not being thin-skinned, mind you-- I'm just curious.
It was a good episode. For a future Replay, I'd like to suggest the 16-bit Cool Spot platformer (not the isometric), which I remember being surprisingly fun for a game based on a soda mascot.
why dont you do The Legend of Zelda or ocarina or time???
The only game I played in the Legacy of Kain series was the first Soul Reaver, and that game was AWESOME. There was nothing better at the time than throwing a monster onto a spike and impaling him, lol.
Awesome replay guys, and that last game looked very boring :/
Not the best replay although I vaguely remember beating Blood Omen at one time and thought it was a fun game despite the slowdown actually got used to it I think...you guys should revisit Syphon Filter you could even do the one from the PS2 as they never changed the ridiculously stupid controls...
I like soul reaver. they should bring it back hahaha
Do Metroid Prime next. It's time to see if Retro's adventure-flavored take on the FPS genre held up these past eight years.
The Legacy of Kain and Soul Reaver games were one of the best series ever made. Amazing story lines, great action and good puzzles. I would love to see this series brought back. I also think it would make an awesome movie, could make a trilogy out of it. Great replay guys, keep it up.
Ya know I just tried out Blood Omen for the first time a month or two ago and while the story is still pretty interesting, I didn't finish the game because the gameplay has aged terribly. My main issue I have is the hit detection. It just feels way off and like you're never truly connecting with any of your attacks. I swear the first TMNT game on the NES has better hit detection, and combat in general, than Blood Omen.
Anyhoo...interesting Replay and I may still go back to finish Blood Omen one day because I love the other games in the series and want to know the whole story.
there should have been another chapter after defiance, i loved these games
