Square-Enix Drops Valkyrie Profile: Lenneth Teaser On Anniversary

by Imran Khan on Mar 02, 2018 at 12:41 PM

Twelve years to the day of the Japanese release of of Valkyrie Profile Lenneth, Square-Enix has dropped a teaser trailer for...something

A one-minute teaser popped up on Square-Enix's Youtube channel this morning, slowly panning over the words "Should Deny The Divine Destiny of The Destinies" and showing some of the main names behind the game, like composer Motoi Sakuraba, and panning over new art of what appears to be Lenneth herself.

The teaser shows the Valkyrie Profile logo and finishes with the words "Coming Soon." Square-Enix has not made any announcements or issued a press release clarifying the video. They have, however, created a Twitter account for Valkyrie Profile Lenneth.

Valkyrie Profile Lenneth was a PSP port of the 1999 PlayStation original RPG simply titled Valkyrie Profile from Enix and developer Tri-Ace, though the PSP version was developed by TOSE. The port replaced the anime cutscenes with CG and was based on the game's English release.

The series has also seen a PS2 prequel titled Valkyrie Profile Silmeria and another prequel for the Nintendo DS titled Valkyrie Profile: Covenant of the Plume in 2009.

You can check out the teaser trailer below.

We have contacted Square-Enix for clarification but did not receive comment back by time of publications.

Our Take
My immediate thought is that Square-Enix hopes for a release of Lenneth on modern systems, but I'm very curious where. The publisher is not against putting out Vita games in 2018, but PC, Switch, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One are all good choices, too.
