Weekend Warrior – Return To Castle Junkenstein

by Michael Leri on Oct 14, 2016 at 02:00 PM

It's not Halloween in the real world, but it's Halloween in Overwatch, which is way cooler. Many of us here are diving back in to Blizzard's hero shooter, hoping to get the seasonal legendary skins but expecting sprays. Let us know if you're planning to jump back into Overwatch as well and how badly you want that Mercy skin. Of course, you're welcome to tell us what you're playing besides Overwatch.

Ben Hanson (@yozetty) – Hey, it’s the weekend already! This weekend I hope to play more of my beloved Forza Horizon 3. Other than that, I should get more current and probably keep playing Mafia III. Then there’s always random little Steam games like Thumper, and Jackbox Party Pack 3 comes out next week!

Michael Leri (@OrangeFlavored) – I had plans to go to a literary fair or a zombie pub crawl but I have fantastic news that is probably going to upend those tentative plans. I finally got Overwatch to work here in this cold, cold state where everyone is strangely really polite and the Wi-Fi sucks. I'd like to say that I'll play some of the Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare beta or finish my replay of South Park: The Stick of Truth and Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare, but we really know I'll be leveling up in Overwatch and getting disappointed by the glut of mediocre "three grays and a blue" loot boxes. Just give me that Junkenstein skin. Or the Reaper skin. Or any of them really.

Ian Boudreau (@iboudreau) – I’ll be perfecting my chef knife technique all weekend, by which I mean of course playing a lot of Shadow Warrior 2. I’ve played about an hour of the game so far and I’m already loving it. Hopefully I’ll be able to fit in some more Overwatch, too. I think Dr. Junkenstein’s Revenge is a fun little brawl mode, and some of those Halloween character skins are just too cool.

Javy Gwaltney (@HurdyIV) – After being on the road for two weeks, I finally get some time to myself to play a bunch of games I want to check out, including (more) Mafia III, Gears of War 4, and the second episode of Telltale’s Batman.

Kevin Slackie (@KSlackie) – When I’m finally done fawning over the new Pokemon announced today, I’m gonna start to grind through Gears of War 4 so I can avoid any spoilers. I’ll sprinkle in some Shin Megami Tensei 4 since I was pretty close to finishing it before Apocalypse came out, then switch over to Silver Case and maybe some League of Legends or Monster Hunter Generations. This is mostly because I managed to go to the Mall of America last weekend where I watched someone get stabbed in the face, so I’ll stick to gory games instead. Plus this is the first time in four years that I'm missing out on Indiecade, so a few distractions will be nice.

Suriel Vazquez (@surielvazquez) – I’m gonna try to play as much of the Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare beta as I can, while also continuing to dig into Mafia III and the Silver Case. I’m also going to be to playing some Gears of War 4 co-op with my brother, who I abandoned during our last session because a Snorlax spawned nearby in Pokémon Go. I didn’t even catch it.

Kyle Hilliard (@KyleMHilliard) – Tomorrow begins a week I am taking off from work. I look forward to scrolling through my Netflix feed, but never actually deciding on watching anything for full days as opposed to the twenty minutes I usually reserve for that before bed. After last weekend’s crazy birthday bash for my daughter, it’s definitely recovery/clean-up time. As far as games go, we’ve been dabbling with Dragon Quest Builders as a family, and I started playing ReCore last night. I also plan on seeing the Yo-kai Watch movie this weekend. And then it’s time for doing one of my favorite things: A whole lot of nothing.

Brian Shea (@BrianPShea) – I’ll be out and about most of this weekend, but I’ll still make time for Gears of War 4 and Overwatch.

Jeff Cork (@gijeff) – I’ve gotten into Overwatch again, thanks in large part to all that Halloween nonsense. I think the lesson here is to never underestimate the allure of in-game Halloween costumes. I unlocked the new skins for Mercy and Roadhog, so now I’m bracing myself for loot chest after loot chest of sprays I’ll never use in a million years. Oh well.

Andrew Reiner (@Andrew_Reiner) – I'm spending the weekend with my youngster. Few games will be played other than Mario Maker and Pokémon Go. An apple orchard and pumpkin patch are likely destinations on Saturday. I also need to figure out her Halloween costume. She wants to go as the Pokémon Goldeen. Hmmm.
