Rockstar Reveals Release Windows For Two Grand Theft Auto Online Content Updates

by Mike Futter on Oct 25, 2013 at 07:47 AM

This morning we reported that Rockstar is still hard at work stomping out Grand Theft Auto Online bugs, leading to a delay in the first of two "stimulus package" in-game cash disbursements. We still don't know when that will be happening, but Rockstar has offered hope that it will be next week after a new title update arrives.

The Beach Bum Pack will be coming in early November. This will add vehicles like dune buggies and new weapons that can be used online and in story mode. It will also bring a number of new customization options, jobs, races, and more.

The Content Creator will be after that. It will arrive sometime this fall, giving players the opportunity to build deathmatches and races. The best will get Rockstar's stamp of approval and get the spotlight on the Rockstar Newswire and Social Club events.

Finally, Rockstar will begin Social Club Event Weekends in November. These will offer in-game rewards, some of which that will be tailored specifically for the event. You can read more about Grand Theft Auto Online in two recent features that offer up tips for playing and suggestions for Rockstar on how the experience might be improved.

Our Take
These content packs, especially the creation tools, are absolutely vital for Rockstar to keep the GTA buzz going. The more unique opportunities offered, the more reasons players will have to come back (and purchase in-game money). After such a strong critical and commercial reception, it would be a shame for the GTA Online problems to be what people remember most about GTA V.
