Nintendo Direct: The 3DS Library Getting Huge First Party Push
During this morning's Nintendo Direct, the house of Mario gave 3DS owners even more reason to celebrate. The presentation led off with more news about Mario & Luigi Dream Team.
Unsurprisingly, Princess Peach is in trouble, and the brothers need to rescue her. The title's hook is that Mario must enter Luigi's dreams, which, based on footage shown, are fairly disturbing. The title arrives on August 11.
Next up was Mario Golf: World Tour. The familiar cast of characters will hit the links this summer. Players will be able to compete wirelessly with other duffers around the world through direct play and asynchronous tournaments. Community features will allow 3DS owners to find the right fit for their play styles.
Mario will be throwing another party, this time on 3DS. Featuring seven worlds all with different rules, the title includes new minigames based on speed, concentration, and luck. You'll be able to get your hands on it this winter.
Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D is more than just a port of the Wii title. The game has been completely adapted to the 3DS, with a depth mechanic added to the levels. For compatibility with portable gaming habits, Nintendo has also created a "new mode" that features a lower difficulty level that increases the number of hits Donkey Kong and Diddy can take. New items have been added to ease progress, also. The original configuration is also available for banana-loving purists. Both modes will feature a new world with eight new levels, which is available after completing the main portion of the game.
Gamers can take a trip back to Yoshi's Island, as a new 3D entry in that series will be available at an as yet unannounced date.
Mario and Donkey Kong put aside their differences in the new Mario and Donkey Kong: Minis on the Move. The play style is markedly different from the Mario vs Donkey Kong series, as players use tiles on the touch screen to safely navigate the toy Marios around obstacles to collect items and reach the end. There is also a level creator that will enable gamers to share new stages. Mario and Donkey Kong: Minis on the Move will be available May 9 as a download-only title.
There is also a new Legend of Zelda title coming, and it's set in the same world as Link to the Past. We thought that deserved its own story, though. You can read all about it here, and view the Nintendo Direct presentation on the official website.
