Link Loses Out To Marty McFly In Lego Cuusoo Review

by Andrew Reiner on Dec 21, 2012 at 02:00 PM

Lego Cuusoo is a website that challenges brick builders to create sets that could potentially be turned into official Lego products. This process consists of three steps:

  • Have an idea? Create a project, share your product concept, and see what other people think.
  • Get 10,000 supporters. Projects with 10,000 supporters are reviewed quarterly by LEGO for a chance to become an official Lego product.
  • Receive royalty. If your project passes review and is chosen for production, you will receive 1% of the total net sales of the product. See the guidelines for more details.

Video game-inspired sets fare quite well with the Lego community. Last year, a fan-made Minecraft set passed approvals and was put into production. This year, sets based on The Legend of Zelda and Eve Online both made it to the review process.

Neither set was selected for production. They both lost out to the time-traveling DeLorean from the Back to the Future films. This is a tough loss for Link and Zelda fans, but I gotta say, that Back to the Future set looks awesome. I wouldn't mind adding it to my collection.
