Valve Doing More Hiring For Hardware

by Matthew Kato on Sep 04, 2012 at 03:54 AM

The continuing speculation that Valve is going to create hardware just became more concrete with another job listing. This time it's for an industrial designer position, and Valve says it wants applicants to change everything.

A job listing at Valve's official site is ambitious, if still vague about what the company's hardware product will actually be. "We’re frustrated by the lack of innovation in the computer hardware space though, so we’re jumping in," it reads. "Even basic input, the keyboard and mouse, haven’t really changed in any meaningful way over the years. There’s a real void in the marketplace, and opportunities to create compelling user experiences are being overlooked."

The listing goes on to talk about Valve's close relationship with its consumers, and how Steam is "fundamental to the way we create great products."

There has been a lot of talk (including this other job posting), which Valve has denied, about the company doing a "Steam Box" that would bring the service to a Valve-created home console, so we'll have to wait and see just what kind of hardware is being planning.
