  • Will GI Talk About the Bully Hunter Situation?

    1

    Probably not.

    More
Probably not. If you don't know what I'm talking about, go google it and watch a couple of the videos about it, if you can't find the video itself. Essentially what happened is a hardware firm wanted to do a bit of viral marketing with a bunch... More
  • The Strike In Syria

It took some digging this morning, but it finally makes sense.

It took some digging this morning, but it finally makes sense. One thing I still don't quite understand is why the necessity for the chemical weapons ruse, but it doesn't really matter. The point of the strikes is denying Russia the ability to... More
  • On Poking The Bear

Dang it.  I had this whole thing about Russia, and then I accidentally closed the damn tab.  I should put these in text files first.

  • I Think I'm Slowly Getting It

There are subjects in school I picked up quickly and learned to love at an early age. The one thing I couldn't understand, that I absolutely struggled with, was how to fit in.  Learning human psychology - a thing which is pretty natural to most people - was for me like climbing a mountain while suffering an asthma attack.

  • I Wish I'd Never Seen The Last Jedi

I'm on record on multiple stories on this site stating that I think the Expanded Universe is utter garbage - even Timothy Zahn's work (which I think of as slightly less stinky garbage).

  • Is Tesla About To Fail?

    1

    Man I hope so.

Man I hope so. A lot of people really seem to think electric cars are a Good Idea. And I think they're right, in certain situations. But they can never be a mass market, drive anywhere vehicle in the same manner as a gasoline, diesel, or compressed... More

  • Why Self-Driving Cars Aren't Coming in the Early 2020s, and Maybe Not Ever

    2

Well a second person has died thanks to the incredible hubris and rank amateurish nature of the "engineering" behind autonomous vehicles.  I put engineering in quotation marks because it's not the actual engineering that's at fault - the sensors, motors, batteries, computers, etc. that make up autonomous driving systems.

  • Attention YouTubers! You Aren't Owed a Wage Just for Existing

Over the last couple of years YouTube has been suffering a kind of meltdown.  YouTubers call it the Adpocalypse, and to be honest, I don't quite understand all the shenanigans that caused it.  I know it has something to do with popular YouTubers (and by popular, I mean with subs and views in the millions) acting like total idiots.  This caused advertisers to pull their money from YouTube, which in turn caused YouTube to pull money from the YouTubers.

  • The Beginning of Real Innovation

One of the most frustrating things about watching software, especially entertainment software, is the glaring lack of real, measurable innovation.  In this respect, it is not unlike any other industry.  After a massive explosion in creativity and possibilities in the late 70s and early 80s, the industry settled down into a steady rhythm of product updates and advancements.  There hasn't been a real "revolution" proper since then.

  • Further Thoughts on the Orville
