*I take my Legend of Zelda very seriously. My mom and I began playing it back in 1998 (Ocarina of Time in da houuuuse), though I'm pretty sure A Link to the Past took my Zelda virginity. I now have a Deku Scrub tattoo and wear Zelda underpants on days when I feel like I need superpowers.
As you may already know, Jake Johnson and I are participating in the MN AIDS Walk this May 20th (for more info on how/why I decided to participate, read this post). Our team name is "The Indigo-Go's," which I think is awesome.
Y'ALL. I'm gonna tell you what it's like to be an academic and a gamer and an academic studying games all at the same time/why being a crazy-pants grad student influences the way I play games.
As I sit here eating butterscotch chips and thinking about how much I love Peeta Mellark, I'm also reflecting on another of my obsessions: Kingdom Hearts.
I'm house-sitting tonight, and since I initially had some Japanese homework to finish up, my boyfriend got ahead of me in the "Let's play games on this person's MASSIVE TV" queue (he's currently playing Mass Effect 1). So, I figured, what better time to post another Ali's Favorite Video Game Music entry?
Let me start off by saying this: I don't get many chances to casually write about games. I'm a graduate student/academic, which means I get to study a lot of really amazingly in-depth things about gaming and gamer culture, but the kinds of pieces I produce as part of my job are really seen by only about ten people at any given time. I do have a regular person blog, titled "No, I Am a Cat," and I've written about games there before (duh), but this blog marks the first time I've cross-posted on both that regular person blog and the Game Informer website. So, it's really nice to be conversing with y'all!
