Fun fact: The JIM Show did a livestream Let's Play of Zork about two weeks ago. The experiment underwent complete large-scale cellular mitosis in that time. I estimate that within the year the world will be overrun by this podcast. O, the horrors that science hath wrought!
Jeanette Garcia and Daryl Rodriguez grace the podcast with their presence this week. The documentary duo masterminded the Kickstarted World 1-1 documentary about the beginnings of the video game industry and the rise and fall of Atari. They talked with tons of important and (sadly) obscure developers who pioneered video game development before it was even a thing that existed. Listen to Jack, Daniel, and Jeremy pelter them with questions. Oh, and we talk about the new New 3DS XL.
It was recently brought to our attention that many in the Game Informer community thought that the JIM Show had gone the way of the dodo and died a quiet death. That could not be further from the truth!
I'm going to do my best to relay what I have seen from GamerGate over the last couple months. I talked for several days with a number of ardent supporters, watched hundreds of interactions on social media, and watched hours of videos linked to me as evidence supporting the movement. I talked with people outside of the video game industry to get their perspective on recent events. This is how I've seen GamerGate. This article, as with all articles that I write, only represents my own stance. I do not speak for the organizations with which I work.
My female friends in the video game industry are scared.
