  • An Unpolished Product with Few Shining Moments.

I had been looking forward to this title, as I had been pleasantly surprised by the first Amazing Spider-
Man title two years back, but upon picking it up, I was somewhat disappointed. The game plays well enough and the new web swinging mechanic is an improvement, but the entire experience just seemed unfinished. That's really the one issue that all the games problems can be wrapped under: an overall lack of polish. The visuals are unimpressive by last gen standards, the plot is a string of random villains getting punched in the face, and much of the game play feels like it's just shy of being solid. I played through the entire campaign, and I'm really not upset that I purchased the game, but it definitely could have been more. Beenox has tried to emulate the Arkham games in it's last two titles, which isn't a bad idea, but when that idea isn't fully realized it makes one spend the entire game experience imagining how excellent the title could be if it had been. Overall, The Amazing Spider-Man 2 has a few fun moments for fans and swinging through New York has a fun, acrobatic appeal, but the entire experience is marred by what feels like an unfinished game all around.

Shank 2 isn't a huge step forward from the original, but I still found it far more fun. The small combat tweaks mentioned in the review above are all welcome additions, and after a bit of play time you can really start to feel untouchable. I don't entirely agree that the levels are just as frustrating as the first game, as I really found far fewer points throughout the campaign in which I cursed the level design. I should also mention that it is in fact possible to change weapons on the fly in the game by pausing and selecting loadout. You don't have to wait until you die to change weapons, as said above. I'll admit that that isn't the smoothest method of swapping guns, but I felt it should be corrected. The review above is pretty accurate on the story, but I really couldn't care less. I bought the game to kill lots of guys and that's what I got. The survival mode is a blast and probably the best feature of the game, with multiple characters to unlock, all with different combat bonuses. Overall, the game is more than worth the asking price of ten dollars. Check it out if you're looking for a quick game to screw around with until Mass Effect 3 comes out.

  • Quite a let down

Brink was shaping up to be one of the great games of 2011 so it pains me to say this, but it's just not a fun game. The controls overall feel awkward, the so called parkour is jumping over small objects and climbing small obstacles, and the weapons are a joke. I was really hoping this game could bring something new to the FPS genre, but quite frankly, it's just another mediocre shooter.

  • Too bad...

It's such a shame that this game turned out this way. It had the potential to be an excellent, but as it stands, it's just lacking. The gameplay has it's moments, but it doesn't deliver enough variety in moves to make you feel as though you've truly become either of the deadly species in the game. The Predator feels far too weak, and the fact that you can't do anything but walk and stay invisible is just ridiculous. The human campaign is just a joke, and the alien campaign would be great if you could sneak around and kill people a bit more efficiently. The game has so much potential, but it's downfalls keep it from being truly great.
