  • The nuzlocke challenge - #01 Elders are nice to me

Hey! I know I haven't written in a while but there just isn't much going on in this town, watching some of your old battles on my room's T.V. is pretty much the only thing that keeps me from dying out of boredom. Having a Wii as my only console doesn't really help much either. Anyways, mom told me today that proffesor Elm had an errand he needed me to run and since I didn't have anything better to do I thought I might as well go, well, guess who I ran into as soon as I came out of my doorstep? Yep, Lyra and her Marill. Seriously, what a show off. Just because she is the only one in town with a pokémon she runs around with it out of its pokéball as if we all had nothing better to do than watch it run around behind her and lament that it isn't us who are on a pokémon journey... well, I don't! I'm good enough living in this god forsaken town looking at your old videos. Seriously now, when will you get into another championship? It's been a while since the last time I saw you on T.V...

Pokemon X and Pokemon Y are a little bit over two months away and I know I'm not the only one who's been filling with excitement as the release date draws near. I've been catching and battling pokemon ever since gen 3 (or 2 if I count that time my cousin lent me his gameboy color) and even if I get tired of the formula, sooner or later I come back to play the latest game on the series and so far I've played at least one game of any generation, except for five, because black and white suck, lol.

The critically aclaimed cult classic from Square Enix for the nintendo DS gets the HD treatment and jumps over to iPhone and iPad. Is this fresh coat of paint and updated soundtrack enough to make up for the lack of the second screen? Let's find out!

  • Next-gen characters might be too realistic for me.

In the same vein as Dr. Apozem's last blog I'm a bit wary of the next generation of consoles but not exactly the same way he is. For those of you who have not read it, do it now, it's a great piece that opens for debate but just in case I'll give you the main idea: "if graphics ever get realistic enough that we won't be able to tell the diference between a game and real life then the violence in it might get really gory and the games in which now we enjoy killing pedestrians or being surprised by monsters may become unbearable for some" or at least that's the idea I got out of it. While his fear is understandable, it isn't one I share, at least from the demos we've seen to this day I don't think games have yet reached a photorealistic state so things should be fine as soon as we get used to the jump in graphical power of the next generation of consoles, a game like Mortal Kombat may get harder to watch, but apart from that, we'll surely be able to play next gen games without them being hard on your stomach.

  • I Love the CD-i Zelda

I´ll start with this: I´m relatively new to the site. I happened to come across it while surfing the net during summer (yeah, I know, summerfag), I think it was mentioned in a comment on Youtube. Back then, I got all my gaming news and laughs from sites like IGN, machinima and rooster teeth. When I heard of this site I checked it and instantly liked what I saw, it´s community is probably what made me stay since it´s so close and friendly, is like everyone and anypony (I´m not a brony but... wink!) could be received with open arms and accepted, it´s almost like this isn´t the internetz anymore, cool! But anyway, I'm getting a little far from the subject of this paragraph which is: Hey, i´m new. And I wanted to make that point cause during my time on the site I´ve come to realize that i am quite different from your average GIO member: I never thought there would be people who genuinely liked MLP (whenever i saw one before i thought they were just trolling), I've also never cared about a game´s collector´s edition, but more importantly for this blog: I´ve always loved the CD-i Zelda games, since the first moment I heard from them.
