I'm sure this has been said by a lot of people this year, but it's worth repeating that 2015 has been an incredible year for the video game industry. I'm so eager to read and listen to Game of the Year discussions as I can see the case for several titles. There are no clear winners - not this time around.
Back in February, I shared some "Doin' Blunt Cabbage" pictures I made after someone in a Dark Souls group I'm in typed 'blunt cabbage' instead of 'blunt damage' (stupid auto-correct). Well, about seven months have passed now and we still haven't gotten over the cabbage humor. Recently in the "I Watched the Entire Overblood Super Replay" group on Facebook, we had a cabbage thread with over 1K replies in which people added the word cabbage to video games, movies, books, song lyrics and even professional wrestlers (you know, stuff like The Cabbage Man Randy Savage). Anyways, I recently created some more dumb cabbage images and decided to share them, including my Magnum Cabbage Opus - Star Wars: The Cabbage Awakens. It's all super dumb, but whatever. I like to have dumb fun sometimes.
It's hard to keep up with the internet. Some things are relevant for weeks, but others only hours. I'm still disappointed that social media quickly moved on from the llama chase - THAT WAS GREAT! I have no idea if we've collectively moved on from this thing yet or not, but I love the Straight Outta Somewhere generator. That's some brilliant viral marketing right there.I love a good meme, especially ones that encourage you to come up with your own & aren't strictly shared as is. I particularly enjoy memes that don't require me to spend time in Photoshop to make my own. So... whether this "Straight Outta" thing is old news or not, I wanted to share some of the ones I came up with. Hopefully I've purged myself of ideas so I can move on with my life. HAHA!
"Don't let your dreams be dreams." I don't know who actually wrote those words. If I understand correctly, Shia LaBeouf was just reading a script. Whoever it was, they're right. We shouldn't just let our dreams be dreams, but we should dare to dream of ALL the possibilities for future video games and at least vocalize that SOMEONE should make them a reality.
Sad times are sad, but I greatly appreciate the positives that come from them. It's moments like this (Satoru Iwata's passing) that I see an extraordinarily unified, positive message coming from the internet about video games. Things like this bring us together in a way that nothing else can. Let's not be too quick to forget these moments that expose the gratefulness we have for this industry and the people that have pioneered it.
Unity through tragedy.
I'm sure there are plenty of suggestions out there for characters that should be added to Smash 4, but here are some characters you may not have considered yet:

The title pretty much says it all. I talked to DrinkBox Studios' Jason Canam about Guacamelee! and humor in video games.
