The lights are on
Mass Effect was one of the most action-packed space odysseys we've ever experienced, and it has at least two sequels that look to up that ante in nearly every way. Whether you are new to the universe or an experienced explorer, feel free to pull up a chair
Personally, I feel it was Jacob, for me. He has a great personality - as in behaves like an actual soldier- and an interesting history that I would have liked to see more of. If you distribute his squad points right, he also has a valuable ammo and passive ability. I didn't get all the hate for him - apart from him possibly being the only squadmate that didn't have a personality disorder. Then there's "the PRIIIZE."
What characters do you think are underrated in the Mass Effect Universe?

Miranda: She kinda sucks as a human being, but her abilities are unparelled in a fight, especially on Insanity.
Definately Jacob, he had the most well rounded personality out of any character in the first two games but he is also well rounded in combat which leads to him not being used very often. If you wanted firepower you used Grunt, if you wanted biotics you used Jack or Samara. Jacob was a well rounded fighter but he couldn't help you overwhelm enemies the way other party members could. I actually thought he would end up dying during the main storyline like the second person in your group in the first few ME 1 scenes because he just didn't seem like he would be practical to keep around.
@ thegodofwine7,
Miranda's passive abilities are definitely a must on Insanity. Did I mention those camera angles lol?
@Knapptime,
Yeah, his skills were definitely aimed toward defense. Though if you used the squadmate points glitch before they patched ME2 you could turn him into a monster lol.
I don't know, actually...I always brought along Garrus and Tali - the ME1 crew!
Probably Miranda, though.
Kasumi. That Shadow Strike does crazy damage.
You guys are right though. I always thought Jacob and Thane were both pretty useless...

If it's only squadmates, then I would go with Jack. I get why many people don't like her, but I like how she grows if you take your time with her.
If it's for every character in the game then it would definitely be the corny krogan from Illium, It was a great insight on one of the most interesting races in the fiction.
BTW, here's a comic about him if you have not read it: www.escapistmagazine.com/.../9758-Blue-Rose-of-Illium
I agree with ElGato. I believe that Jack is very underrated. I really liked her as a character and had her in my team through most of the game.
Vega's passive abilities in ME3 made him indespensible for me. Miranda in ME2. I don't understand why Vega caught so much hate though, I thought he had some pretty good lines.
Don't care much for Miranda She is a B____, but Vega is pretty good character. Shood have been able to get with him as a fem shepard.
Does this have to be a squadmate? Because if not, I think Saren Arterius was the most underrated character in Mass Effect. He was highly intelligent, extremely efficient and incredibly dangerous. He even displays sufficient mental fortitude to break deep indoctrination, with only a little help. Tell me that's not cool.
If it has to be a squadmate, I'd say Miranda for practical reasons. I found her passive abilities invauable.
In my opinion I think Zaeed & Vega are quite underrated, there's not much that know about them Part from the odd mission & stuff, think in future games I would personally like to see more of James Vega :)
For me, I would have to say Jacob, Kasumi, and Jack. All for different reasons.
Jacob- He has the background of a military person.
Kasumi- For her powers and the damage she can cause.
Jack, Just because!
I'm a gamer; a lover of music!
Jacob earns his keep throughout the ME2 game. I agree that Grunt definitely brought the firepower. Samara' biotic definitely came in hand when doing the suicide mission. Idc for Jack; she was ok!
Vega gets hate? Quite a few of the people on the forums are mad that you can't romance him. But yeah, he's the human version of Grunt.
