Kotaku reports that roughly 150 people have been laid off and that Star Wars 1313 and Star Wars: First Assault are canceled in the wake of today's news, though Game Informer reports that LucasArts says "there's always a possibility that [Star Wars 1313] can still come out via licensing."

A company spokesperson provided the following statement to IGN:

“After evaluating our position in the games market, we’ve decided to shift LucasArts from an internal development to a licensing model, minimizing the company’s risk while achieving a broader portfolio of quality Star Wars games. As a result of this change, we’ve had layoffs across the organization. We are incredibly appreciative and proud of the talented teams who have been developing our new titles.”

I feel betrayed....

I've been reading about all that.  It's really sad, but not TOO terribly surprising what with Disney taking over and the fact that a quality game hasn't come out of there in a while.

I'm just hoping that we can get more fantastic Star Wars games in the future, especially games that start with a 1 and end in a 3.  Even if it doesn't happen soon, I hope eventually good games start coming.

@Darth-Carbonite: Yeah my wife told me about this a few hours ago. My first reaction was anger, but then I felt bad for everyone getting fired. :/ I just hope they can find jobs and that maybe this starting over from scratch method can yield some quality stuff in the future in agreeance with what Azure Moon and Luis E. Morales Falcon said.

This just sucks. Like Queso said, I feel bad for everyone who lost their jobs, this is just terrible.

Disney had better be cooking up something good to warrant all this disappointment.
